1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

1 Temamos, pues, no sea que estando vigente aún la promesa de entrar en su reposo, alguno de vosotros parezca no haberlo alcanzado.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

2 Porque también a nosotros se nos ha predicado el evangelio como a ellos; pero no les aprovechó el oír la palabra a los que la oyeron por no acompañarla con la fe.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

3 Porque entramos en el reposo los que hemos creído, de la manera que dijo: Como juré en mi ira, no entrarán en mi reposo, aunque acabadas estaban sus obras desde la fundación del mundo.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

4 Porque en cierto lugar dijo así del séptimo día: Y reposó Dios de todas sus obras en el séptimo día.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

5 Y otra vez aquí dice: No entrarán en mi reposo.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

6 Por lo tanto, puesto que falta que algunos entren en él, y aquellos a quienes primero se les anunció el evangelio no entraron por causa de la desobediencia,

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

7 otra vez determina un día, hoy, diciendo por medio de David después de tanto tiempo, como está dicho: Si oyereis su voz hoy, no endurezcáis vuestros corazones.

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

8 Porque si Josué les hubiera dado el reposo, no hablaría después de otro día.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

9 Por tanto, queda un reposo para el pueblo de Dios.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

10 Porque el que ha entrado en su reposo, también ha reposado de sus obras, como Dios de las suyas.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

11 Procuremos, pues, entrar en aquel reposo, para que ninguno caiga en semejante ejemplo de desobediencia.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

12 Porque la palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que toda espada de dos filos; y penetra hasta partir el alma y el espíritu, y las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

13 Y no hay cosa creada que no sea manifiesta en su presencia; antes bien, todas las cosas están desnudas y abiertas a los ojos de aquel a quien tenemos que dar cuenta.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

14 Por tanto, teniendo un gran sumo sacerdote, que ha entrado en los cielos, Jesús el Hijo de Dios, retengamos la fe que profesamos.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

15 Porque no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras flaquezas, sino uno que fue tentado en todo según nuestra semejanza, pero sin pecado.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

16 Acerquémonos, pues, confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia, y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.
