1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

1 Por tanto, es necesario que con más diligencia atendamos a las cosas que hemos oído, no sea que nos desviemos.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

2 Porque si la palabra dicha por medio de los ángeles fue firme, y toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió justa retribución,

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

3 ¿cómo escaparemos nosotros, si descuidamos una salvación tan grande? La cual, habiendo comenzado a ser publicada por el Señor, nos ha sido confirmada por los que oyeron,

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

4 testificando Dios juntamente con ellos, con señales y prodigios, y diversos milagros y dones del Espíritu Santo según su voluntad.

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

5 Porque Dios no sometió al dominio de los ángeles el mundo venidero, del cual hablamos.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

6 Pero alguien testificó en cierto lugar, diciendo: ¿Qué es el hombre, para que tengas de él memoria? ¿O el hijo del hombre, para que le visites?

7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

7 Tú le hiciste un poco menor que los ángeles; le coronaste de gloria y de honra, y le pusiste sobre las obras de tus manos;

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

8 todas las cosas sujetaste bajo sus pies. Porque en cuanto le sujetó todas las cosas, nada dejó que no sea sujeto a él; pero todavía no vemos que todas las cosas le sean sujetas.

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

9 Pero vemos a aquel que fue hecho un poco menor que los ángeles, a Jesús, coronado de gloria y de honra por el padecimiento de la muerte, para que por la gracia de Dios gustase la muerte por todos.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

10 Porque convenía a aquel por cuya causa son todas las cosas, y por quien todas las cosas subsisten, que habiendo de llevar a la gloria a muchos hijos, perfeccionara por aflicciones al autor de la salvación de ellos.

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

11 Porque el que santifica y los que son santificados, de uno son todos; por lo cual no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,

12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

12 diciendo: Anunciaré a mis hermanos tu nombre, en medio de la congregación te alabaré.

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

13 Y otra vez: Yo confiaré en él. Y de nuevo: He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dio Dios.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

14 Así que, por cuanto los hijos participaron de carne y sangre, él también participó de lo mismo, para destruir, mediante la muerte, al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, a saber, al diablo,

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

15 y librar a todos los que por temor a la muerte estaban durante toda la vida sujetos a servidumbre.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

16 Porque ciertamente no auxilió a los ángeles, sino que auxilió a la descendencia de Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

17 Por lo cual, debía ser en todo semejante a sus hermanos, para venir a ser misericordioso y fiel sumo sacerdote en lo que atañe a Dios, para expiar los pecados del pueblo.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

18 Pues por cuanto él mismo padeció siendo tentado, es poderoso para socorrer a los que son tentados.
