1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

1 Porque la ley, teniendo la sombra de las cosas buenas por venir, no la imagen misma de las cosas, nunca puede, por los mismos sacrificios que se ofrecen continuamente cada año, hacer perfectos a los que se acercan.

2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

2 De otra manera, ¿no cesarían de ofrecerse?, porque los que adoran, una vez limpios, no tendrían ya más conciencia de pecado.

3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

3 Pero en estos sacrificios cada año se hace memoria de los pecados.

4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

4 Porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.

5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

5 Por lo cual, entrando en el mundo, dice: Sacrificio y ofrenda no quisiste; mas me preparaste un cuerpo.

6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

6 Holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no te agradaron.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

7 Entonces dije: Heme aquí (como en el rollo del libro está escrito de mí) para hacer, oh Dios, tu voluntad.

8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

8 Diciendo arriba: Sacrificio y ofrenda, y holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no quisiste, ni te agradaron (las cuales cosas se ofrecen según la ley),

9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

9 entonces dijo: Heme aquí para hacer, oh Dios, tu voluntad. Quita lo primero, para establecer lo segundo.

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

10 En esa voluntad somos santificados mediante la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo hecha una vez y para siempre.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

11 Así que todo sacerdote se presenta cada día ministrando y ofreciendo muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados.

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

12 Pero Cristo, habiendo ofrecido por los pecados un solo sacrificio para siempre, se ha sentado a la diestra de Dios,

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

13 de ahí en adelante esperando hasta que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies.

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

14 Porque con una sola ofrenda hizo perfectos para siempre a los santificados.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

15 Y nos atestigua lo mismo el Espíritu Santo, porque después de haber dicho:

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

16 Este es el convenio que haré con ellos después de aquellos días, dice el Señor: Pondré mis leyes en sus corazones, y en sus mentes las escribiré,

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

17 añade: Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados e iniquidades.

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

18 Pues donde hay remisión de estos, no hay más ofrenda por el pecado.

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

19 Así que, hermanos, teniendo libertad para entrar en el Lugar Santísimo por la sangre de Jesucristo,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

20 por el camino nuevo y vivo que él nos consagró, a través del velo, esto es, de su carne,

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

21 y teniendo un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios,

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

22 acerquémonos con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe, purificados los corazones de una mala conciencia y lavados los cuerpos con agua pura.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

23 Mantengamos firme la profesión de nuestra fe sin vacilar, porque fiel es el que prometió.

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

24 Y considerémonos los unos a los otros para motivarnos al amor y a las buenas obras;

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

25 no dejando de congregarnos, como algunos tienen por costumbre, sino exhortándonos; y tanto más, cuando veis que aquel día se acerca.

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

26 Porque si pecamos voluntariamente después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda más sacrificio por los pecados,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

27 sino una horrenda expectativa de juicio y fuego ardiente que ha de devorar a los adversarios.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

28 El que menosprecia la ley de Moisés, por el testimonio de dos o de tres testigos muere sin ninguna misericordia.

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

29 ¿Cuánto mayor castigo pensáis que merecerá el que hollare al Hijo de Dios, y tuviere por inmunda la sangre del convenio, en la cual fue santificado, e hiciere afrenta al Espíritu de gracia?

30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

30 Pues sabemos quien es el que dijo: Mía es la venganza, yo daré el pago, dice el Señor. Y otra vez: El Señor juzgará a su pueblo.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

31 ¡Horrenda cosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo!

32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

32 Pero traed a la memoria los días pasados, en los cuales, después de haber sido iluminados, soportasteis un gran combate de aflicciones;

33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

33 por una parte, ciertamente, con vituperios y tribulaciones fuisteis hechos espectáculo, y por otra parte, llegasteis a ser compañeros de los que estaban en una situación semejante.

34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

34 Porque de mis encarcelamientos también tuvisteis compasión, y el despojo de vuestros bienes padecisteis con gozo, sabiendo que tenéis en vosotros una mejor y perdurable posesión en los cielos.

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

35 No perdáis, pues, vuestra confianza, que tiene gran recompensa,

36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

36 porque la paciencia os es necesaria, para que, habiendo hecho la voluntad de Dios, obtengáis la promesa.

37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

37 Porque dentro de poco, el que ha de venir vendrá, y no tardará.

38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

38 Pero el justo vivirá por la fe; y si se vuelve atrás, no agradará a mi alma.

39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

39 Pero nosotros no somos de los que se vuelven atrás para perdición, sino de los que tienen fe para la preservación del alma.
