1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

1 Y también digo: Entretanto que el heredero es niño, en nada difiere del esclavo, aunque es señor de todo,

2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

2 sino que está bajo tutores y mayordomos hasta el tiempo señalado por el padre.

3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

3 Así también nosotros, cuando éramos niños, estábamos en esclavitud bajo los principios elementales del mundo.

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

4 Mas cuando vino el cumplimiento del tiempo, Dios envió a su Hijo, nacido de mujer y nacido bajo la ley,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

5 para que redimiese a los que estaban bajo la ley, a fin de que recibiésemos la adopción de hijos.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

6 Y por cuanto sois hijos, Dios envió a vuestros corazones el Espíritu de su Hijo, el cual clama: ¡Abba, Padre!

7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

7 Así que ya no eres más esclavo, sino hijo, y si hijo, también heredero de Dios por medio de Cristo.

8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

8 Ciertamente, en otro tiempo, cuando no conocíais a Dios, servíais a los que por naturaleza no son dioses.

9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

9 Pero ahora, habiendo conocido a Dios, o más bien, siendo conocidos por Dios, ¿cómo es que os volvéis de nuevo a los débiles y pobres principios elementales, a los cuales os queréis volver a esclavizar?

10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

10 Guardáis los días, y los meses, y los tiempos y los años.

11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

11 Temo por vosotros, que yo haya trabajado en vano por vosotros.

12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.

12 Hermanos, os ruego: Haceos como yo, porque yo también me he hecho como vosotros; ningún agravio me habéis hecho.

13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.

13 Pues vosotros sabéis que por causa de enfermedad del cuerpo os anuncié el evangelio al principio;

14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

14 y no me desechasteis ni menospreciasteis por la prueba que tenía en mi cuerpo; antes bien, me recibisteis como a un ángel de Dios, como a Cristo Jesús.

15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

15 ¿Dónde está, pues, vuestra bienaventuranza? Porque os doy testimonio de que, de ser posible, os hubierais sacado vuestros propios ojos para dármelos.

16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

16 ¿Me he hecho, pues, vuestro enemigo por deciros la verdad?

17 They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

17 Tienen celo por vosotros, pero no para bien, sino que os quieren excluir, para que vosotros tengáis celo por ellos.

18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

18 Bueno es tener celo por el bien siempre, y no solamente cuando estoy presente con vosotros.

19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

19 Hijitos míos, por quienes vuelvo a sufrir dolores de parto, hasta que Cristo sea formado en vosotros,

20 I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

20 quisiera estar ahora con vosotros y cambiar el tono de mi voz, porque estoy perplejo en cuanto a vosotros.

21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

21 Decidme, los que queréis estar bajo la ley, ¿no habéis oído la ley?

22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

22 Porque escrito está que Abraham tuvo dos hijos: uno de la sierva, el otro de la libre.

23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

23 Y el de la sierva nació según la carne; pero el de la libre nació por medio de la promesa.

24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

24 Lo cual es una alegoría, pues estas mujeres son los dos convenios: el uno ciertamente del monte Sinaí, el cual da hijos para servidumbre; este es Agar.

25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

25 Porque Agar es el monte Sinaí, en Arabia, y corresponde a la actual Jerusalén, la cual está en servidumbre junto con sus hijos.

26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

26 Pero la Jerusalén de arriba, la cual es madre de todos nosotros, es libre.

27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

27 Porque está escrito: ¡Regocíjate, oh estéril, tú que no das a luz; prorrumpe en júbilo y clama, tú que no tienes dolores de parto!, porque más son los hijos de la abandonada, que de la que tiene marido.

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

28 Así que, hermanos, nosotros, como Isaac, somos hijos de la promesa.

29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

29 Pero como entonces el que había nacido según la carne perseguía al que había nacido según el Espíritu, así también ahora.

30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

30 Mas, ¿qué dice la Escritura? Echa fuera a la sierva y a su hijo, porque no será heredero el hijo de la sierva con el hijo de la libre.

31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

31 De manera, hermanos, que no somos hijos de la sierva, sino de la libre.
