1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

1 Yo, pues, preso en el Señor, os ruego que andéis como es digno de la vocación con que habéis sido llamados,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

2 con toda humildad y mansedumbre, soportándoos con paciencia los unos a los otros en amor;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

3 solícitos en guardar la unidad del Espíritu en el vínculo de la paz.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

4 Un cuerpo, y un Espíritu; como fuisteis también llamados a una misma esperanza de vuestra vocación;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

5 un Señor, una fe, un bautismo,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

6 un Dios y Padre de todos, quien está sobre todos, y por todos y en todos vosotros.

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

7 Pero a cada uno de nosotros dada fue la gracia conforme a la medida del don de Cristo.

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

8 Por lo cual dice: Subiendo a lo alto, llevó cautivos a los cautivos, y dio dones a los hombres.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

9 (Y eso de que subió, ¿qué es, sino que también había descendido primero a las partes más bajas de la tierra?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

10 El que descendió es el mismo que también subió por encima de todos los cielos para llenarlo todo).

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

11 Y él mismo constituyó a unos apóstoles; y a otros, profetas; y a otros, evangelistas; y a otros, pastores y maestros;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

12 a fin de perfeccionar a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo,

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

13 hasta que todos lleguemos a la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, a un varón perfecto, a la medida de la estatura de la plenitud de Cristo;

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

14 para que ya no seamos niños fluctuantes, llevados por doquiera de todo viento de doctrina, por estratagema de hombres que, para engañar, emplean con astucia las artimañas del error,

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

15 sino que, hablando la verdad en amor, crezcamos en todas las cosas en aquel que es la cabeza, a saber, Cristo;

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

16 de quien, todo el cuerpo, bien ajustado y ligado entre sí por todas las coyunturas que lo sustentan, según la función adecuada de cada miembro, crece, edificándose en amor.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

17 Esto, pues, digo y testifico en el Señor, que no andéis más como los otros gentiles, que andan en la vanidad de su mente,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

18 teniendo el entendimiento entenebrecido, ajenos de la vida de Dios por la ignorancia que en ellos hay, por la dureza de su corazón;

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

19 los cuales, después que perdieron toda sensibilidad, se entregaron a la lascivia para cometer con avidez toda clase de impureza.

20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

20 Mas vosotros no habéis aprendido así sobre Cristo,

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

21 si en verdad le habéis oído, y habéis sido por él enseñados, conforme a la verdad que está en Jesús,

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

22 en cuanto a la pasada manera de vivir, despojaos del viejo hombre, que está viciado conforme a los deseos engañosos,

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

23 y renovaos en el espíritu de vuestra mente,

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

24 y vestíos del nuevo hombre que es creado según Dios en la justicia y santidad de la verdad.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

25 Por lo cual, dejando la mentira, hablad verdad cada uno con su prójimo, porque somos miembros los unos de los otros.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

26 Airaos, pero no pequéis; no se ponga el sol sobre vuestro enojo,

27 Neither give place to the devil.

27 ni deis lugar al diablo.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

28 El que hurtaba, no hurte más, sino trabaje, haciendo con sus manos lo que es bueno, para que tenga qué dar al que padece necesidad.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

29 Ninguna palabra corrompida salga de vuestra boca, sino la que sea buena para la necesaria edificación, a fin de que dé gracia a los oyentes.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

30 Y no contristéis al Santo Espíritu de Dios, con el cual fuisteis sellados para el día de la redención.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

31 Quítense de vosotros toda amargura, y enojo, e ira, y gritos, y maledicencia y toda malicia.

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

32 Más bien, sed benignos los unos con los otros, misericordiosos, perdonándoos los unos a los otros, como también Dios os perdonó a vosotros en Cristo.
