1 And certain men which came down from Judæa taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

1 Entonces algunos que venían de Judea enseñaban a los hermanos: Si no os circuncidáis conforme al rito de Moisés, no podéis ser salvos.

2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

2 Puesto que surgió una disensión y contienda no pequeña de Pablo y Bernabé con ellos, se dispuso que Pablo y Bernabé y algunos otros de ellos subiesen a Jerusalén, a los apóstoles y a los ancianos, para tratar esta cuestión.

3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

3 Ellos, pues, habiendo sido enviados por la iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, contando acerca de la conversión de los gentiles; y causaban gran gozo a todos los hermanos.

4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

4 Y al llegar a Jerusalén, fueron recibidos por la iglesia, y por los apóstoles y por los ancianos; y refirieron todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos.

5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

5 Pero algunos de la secta de los fariseos, que habían creído, se levantaron, diciendo: Es menester circuncidarlos y mandarles que guarden la ley de Moisés.

6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

6 Entonces se reunieron los apóstoles y los ancianos para examinar este asunto.

7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

7 Y tras mucha discusión, Pedro se levantó y les dijo: Varones hermanos, vosotros sabéis que hace ya algún tiempo Dios escogió que los gentiles oyesen por mi boca la palabra del evangelio y creyesen.

8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

8 Y Dios, que conoce los corazones, les dio testimonio, dándoles el Espíritu Santo igual que a nosotros;

9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

9 y ninguna diferencia hizo entre nosotros y ellos, purificando por la fe sus corazones.

10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

10 Ahora, pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios, poniendo sobre la cerviz de los discípulos un yugo, que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

11 Antes bien, creemos que por la gracia del Señor Jesús seremos salvos, al igual que ellos.

12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

12 Entonces toda la multitud calló, y oyeron a Bernabé y a Pablo, que contaban cuán grandes maravillas y señales había hecho Dios por medio de ellos entre los gentiles.

13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

13 Y después que hubieron callado, Jacobo respondió, diciendo: Varones hermanos, oídme:

14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

14 Simón ha contado cómo Dios visitó por primera vez a los gentiles, para tomar de ellos pueblo para su nombre;

15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

15 y con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, como está escrito:

16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

16 Después de esto volveré y reedificaré la habitación de David, que estaba caída; y repararé sus ruinas y la volveré a levantar,

17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

17 para que el resto de los hombres busque al Señor, y también todos los gentiles, sobre los que es invocado mi nombre, dice el Señor, que hace todas estas cosas.

18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

18 Conocidas son a Dios todas sus obras desde la fundación del mundo.

19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

19 Por lo cual, yo juzgo que no se inquiete a los gentiles que se convierten a Dios,

20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

20 sino que se les escriba que se abstengan de las contaminaciones de los ídolos, y de fornicación, y de lo estrangulado y de sangre.

21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

21 Porque Moisés desde los tiempos antiguos tiene en cada ciudad quien le predique en las sinagogas, donde es leído cada día de reposo.

22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

22 Entonces pareció bien a los apóstoles y a los ancianos, con toda la iglesia, elegir de entre ellos a algunos varones y enviarlos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé: a Judas, que tenía por sobrenombre Barsabás, y a Silas, varones principales entre los hermanos;

23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

23 y escribir por conducto de ellos: Los apóstoles, y los ancianos y los hermanos, a los hermanos de entre los gentiles que están en Antioquía, y en Siria y en Cilicia, salud.

24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

24 Por cuanto hemos oído que algunos que han salido de nosotros, a los que no dimos orden, os han inquietado con palabras, perturbando vuestras almas, mandando circuncidaros y guardar la ley,

25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

25 nos ha parecido bien, habiendo llegado a un acuerdo, elegir varones y enviarlos a vosotros con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,

26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

26 hombres que han expuesto su vida por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

27 Así que, enviamos a Judas y a Silas, quienes también de palabra os harán saber lo mismo.

28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

28 Porque ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo, y a nosotros, no imponeros ninguna carga más que estas cosas necesarias:

29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

29 que os abstengáis de lo sacrificado a ídolos, y de sangre, y de lo estrangulado y de fornicación; de tales cosas si os guardáis, bien haréis. Pasadlo bien.

30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

30 Ellos, pues, después de ser enviados, descendieron a Antioquía; y reuniendo a la multitud, entregaron la carta.

31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

31 La cual, cuando la leyeron, se regocijaron por el consuelo recibido.

32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

32 Y Judas y Silas, como ellos también eran profetas, exhortaron y fortalecieron a los hermanos con abundancia de palabras.

33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

33 Y después de haber pasado allí algún tiempo, fueron despedidos en paz por los hermanos, para volver a los apóstoles.

34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

34 Pero a Silas le pareció bien el quedarse allí.

35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

35 Y Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron en Antioquía, enseñando la palabra del Señor y anunciando el evangelio con muchos otros.

36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

36 Y después de algunos días, Pablo dijo a Bernabé: Volvamos a visitar a los hermanos en todas las ciudades en las cuales hemos anunciado la palabra del Señor, para ver cómo están.

37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

37 Y Bernabé quería que llevasen consigo a Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos;

38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

38 pero a Pablo no le parecía bien llevar consigo al que se había separado de ellos desde Panfilia y no había ido con ellos a la obra.

39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

39 Y hubo tal desacuerdo entre ellos que se apartaron el uno del otro; y Bernabé, tomando a Marcos, navegó a Chipre.

40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

40 Y Pablo, escogiendo a Silas, partió encomendado por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor.

41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

41 Y anduvo por Siria y Cilicia, confirmando a las iglesias.
