1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

1 Pero os rogamos, hermanos, en cuanto a la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y a nuestro recogimiento con él,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2 que no cambiéis fácilmente vuestro modo de pensar, ni os conturbéis, ni por espíritu, ni por palabra ni por carta como si fuera nuestra, en el sentido de que el día del Señor está cerca.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

3 No os engañe nadie de ninguna manera, porque no vendrá sin que antes venga la apostasía, y se manifieste el hombre de pecado, el hijo de perdición,

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

4 oponiéndose y levantándose contra todo lo que se llama Dios, o lo que se adora; tanto que se sienta en el templo de Dios como Dios, haciéndose pasar por Dios.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

5 ¿No os acordáis de que cuando yo estaba todavía con vosotros, os decía esto?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

6 Y ahora vosotros sabéis lo que impide que a su debido tiempo sea manifestado.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

7 Porque ya está actuando el misterio de la iniquidad; solamente espera hasta que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora lo impide;

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

8 y entonces se manifestará aquel inicuo, al que el Señor matará con el espíritu de su boca y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida;

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

9 a aquel inicuo, cuyo advenimiento es según la obra de Satanás, con todo poder, y señales, y prodigios mentirosos,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

10 y con todo engaño de iniquidad para los que perecen, por cuanto no recibieron el amor de la verdad para ser salvos.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

11 Por tanto, Dios les envía un poderoso engaño, para que crean en la mentira,

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

12 a fin de que sean condenados todos los que no creyeron en la verdad, sino que se complacieron en la iniquidad.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

13 Pero nosotros debemos dar siempre gracias a Dios por vosotros, hermanos amados por el Señor, de que Dios os haya escogido desde el principio para salvación, mediante la santificación por el Espíritu y por la fe en la verdad;

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

14 para lo cual os llamó por medio de nuestro evangelio, para alcanzar la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

15 Así que, hermanos, permaneced firmes y retened las enseñanzas que habéis aprendido, sea por palabra, o por carta nuestra.

16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

16 Que nuestro Señor Jesucristo mismo y Dios, nuestro Padre, quien nos amó, y nos dio consuelo eterno, y buena esperanza mediante la gracia,

17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

17 consuele vuestros corazones, y os confirme en toda buena palabra y obra.
