1 Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

1 No reprendas al anciano, sino exhórtale como a padre; a los más jóvenes, como a hermanos;

2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

2 a las ancianas, como a madres; a las jovencitas, como a hermanas, con toda pureza.

3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.

3 Honra a las viudas que en verdad lo son.

4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

4 Pero si alguna viuda tiene hijos, o nietos, aprendan estos primero a mostrar piedad en su propia casa, y a recompensar a sus padres, porque esto es lo bueno y agradable delante de Dios.

5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

5 Pero, la que en verdad es viuda y ha quedado sola, espera en Dios, y es diligente en súplicas y oraciones noche y día.

6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

6 Pero la que se entrega a los placeres, viviendo está muerta.

7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

7 Manda también estas cosas, para que sean irreprensibles.

8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

8 Porque si alguno no provee para los suyos, y mayormente para los de su casa, ha negado la fe y es peor que un incrédulo.

9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,

9 La viuda sea puesta en la lista solo si es mayor de sesenta años y ha sido esposa de un solo marido.

10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

10 Que tenga testimonio de buenas obras: si ha criado hijos, si ha practicado la hospitalidad, si ha lavado los pies de los santos, si ha socorrido a los afligidos, si ha seguido toda buena obra.

11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;

11 Pero viudas más jóvenes no admitas, porque cuando, impulsadas por sus deseos que las alejan de Cristo, quieren casarse,

12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

12 incurriendo así en condenación por haber dejado a un lado su primera fe.

13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

13 Y también aprenden a ser ociosas, a andar de casa en casa; y no solamente ociosas, sino también chismosas y entrometidas, hablando lo que no debieran.

14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

14 Quiero, pues, que las más jóvenes se casen, críen hijos, gobiernen su casa; que ninguna ocasión de maledicencia den al adversario.

15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.

15 Porque ya algunas se han apartado para ir en pos de Satanás.

16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

16 Si algún creyente o alguna creyente tiene viudas, manténgalas, y no sea gravada la iglesia; a fin de que haya lo suficiente para las que en verdad son viudas.

17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

17 Los ancianos que gobiernan bien, sean tenidos por dignos de doble honra, mayormente los que trabajan en predicar y enseñar.

18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

18 Porque la Escritura dice: No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla, y: Digno es el obrero de su salario.

19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

19 Contra un anciano no admitas acusación, sino con dos o tres testigos.

20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

20 A los que pecan, repréndelos delante de todos, para que los otros también teman.

21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

21 Te encargo delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, y de sus ángeles escogidos, que guardes estas cosas sin prejuicios, que nada hagas con parcialidad.

22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

22 No impongas con ligereza las manos a ninguno, ni participes en pecados ajenos; consérvate puro.

23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

23 No bebas agua de aquí en adelante, sino usa de un poco de vino por causa de tu estómago y de tus frecuentes enfermedades.

24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

24 Los pecados de algunos hombres son manifiestos antes que ellos vengan a juicio, pero a otros se les descubren después.

25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

25 Asimismo, las buenas obras son evidentes de antemano; y las que son de otra manera, no pueden esconderse.
