1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

1 Asimismo vosotras, mujeres, estad sujetas a vuestros maridos, para que también los que no creen en la palabra sean ganados sin palabra por la conducta de sus esposas,

2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

2 al observar vuestra conducta casta y respetuosa.

3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

3 El adorno de ellas no sea el externo, con peinados ostentosos, con adornos de oro ni con ropas lujosas,

4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

4 sino el interno, el del corazón, en el incorruptible adorno de un espíritu agradable y apacible, que es de gran estima delante de Dios.

5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

5 Porque así también se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, estando sujetas a sus maridos,

6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

6 como Sara obedecía a Abraham, llamándole señor; de la que vosotras sois hechas hijas, si hacéis el bien, sin tener ningún temor.

7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

7 Vosotros, maridos, igualmente, vivid con ellas con comprensión, dando honor a la mujer como a vaso más frágil y como a coherederas de la gracia de la vida, para que vuestras oraciones no sean estorbadas.

8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

8 Y finalmente, sed todos de un mismo sentir, compasivos, amándoos fraternalmente, misericordiosos, amigables;

9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

9 no devolviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino por el contrario, bendiciendo, sabiendo que fuisteis llamados para que heredaseis bendición.

10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

10 Porque: el que quiere amar la vida, y ver días buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño;

11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

11 apártese del mal, y haga el bien; busque la paz, y sígala.

12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos atentos a sus oraciones; pero el rostro del Señor está contra aquellos que hacen el mal.

13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

13 ¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá hacer daño, si vosotros seguís el bien?

14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

14 Pero también si alguna cosa padecéis por causa de la rectitud, bienaventurados sois. Por tanto, no os amedrentéis por temor a ellos ni seáis turbados,

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

15 sino santificad a Dios el Señor en vuestros corazones, y estad siempre preparados para responder con mansedumbre y reverencia a cada uno que os demande razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros;

16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

16 teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean avergonzados los que difaman vuestra buena conducta en Cristo.

17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

17 Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo el bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo el mal.

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

18 Porque también Cristo padeció una sola vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a Dios, siendo a la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en el espíritu;

19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

19 en el cual también fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados,

20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

20 los que en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez esperaba la paciencia de Dios en los días de Noé, mientras se preparaba el arca, en la cual pocas personas, a saber, ocho, fueron salvadas por agua.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

21 El símbolo de la cual corresponde al bautismo que ahora nos salva (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, sino como la petición de una buena conciencia ante Dios) por la resurrección de Jesucristo,

22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

22 quien, habiendo subido al cielo, está a la diestra de Dios, y a él están sujetos los ángeles, y las autoridades y los poderes.
