1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

1 Pedro, apóstol de Jesucristo, a los peregrinos dispersos por Ponto, Galacia, Capadocia, Asia y Bitinia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

2 elegidos según la presciencia de Dios el Padre mediante la santificación del Espíritu, para obedecer y ser rociados con la sangre de Jesucristo: Gracia y paz os sean multiplicadas.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

3 Bendito el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que según su gran misericordia nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo a una esperanza viva, por la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

4 para una herencia incorruptible, incontaminada e inmarchitable, reservada en los cielos para vosotros,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

5 que sois guardados por el poder de Dios, mediante la fe, para alcanzar la salvación que está preparada para ser manifestada en el tiempo postrero.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

6 En lo cual vosotros os alegráis, aunque, si es necesario, por un poco de tiempo tengáis que ser afligidos con diversas tentaciones,

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

7 para que la prueba de vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual perece aunque sea probado con fuego, sea hallada digna de alabanza, gloria y honra, cuando Jesucristo sea manifestado;

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

8 a quien, aunque no le habéis visto, amáis; en quien creyendo, aunque al presente no lo veáis, os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorificado,

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

9 obteniendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es la salvación de vuestras almas.

10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

10 Acerca de esta salvación, los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que había de venir a vosotros inquirieron y diligentemente indagaron,

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

11 escudriñando qué condiciones o qué tiempo indicaba el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, el que predecía los sufrimientos de Cristo, y las glorias que seguirían después de estos.

12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

12 A quienes les fue revelado que ministraban, no para sí mismos, sino para nosotros, las mismas cosas que ahora os han sido anunciadas por los que os han predicado el evangelio por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; cosas en las cuales anhelan mirar los ángeles.

13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

13 Por tanto, teniendo ceñidos los lomos de vuestro entendimiento, siendo sobrios, tened plena esperanza en la gracia que os será presentada cuando Jesucristo os sea manifestado.

14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

14 Como hijos obedientes, no os conforméis a los deseos que antes teníais estando en vuestra ignorancia,

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

15 sino, como aquel que os ha llamado es santo, sed también vosotros santos en toda vuestra conducta,

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

16 porque escrito está: Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.

17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

17 Y si invocáis como Padre a aquel que sin acepción de personas juzga según la obra de cada uno, conducíos en temor todo el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación,

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

18 sabiendo que habéis sido rescatados de vuestra vana conducta, la cual recibisteis por tradición de vuestros padres, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro o plata,

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

19 sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de un cordero sin mancha y sin contaminación,

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

20 ya ordenado desde antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado en los postreros tiempos por amor a vosotros,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

21 que por medio de él creéis en Dios, quien le resucitó de entre los muertos, y le ha dado gloria, para que vuestra fe y esperanza sean en Dios.

22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

22 Habiendo purificado vuestras almas mediante la obediencia a la verdad, por medio del Espíritu, hasta llegar a un amor fraternal no fingido, amaos unos a otros entrañablemente de corazón puro,

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

23 habiendo nacido de nuevo, no de simiente corruptible, sino de una incorruptible, por la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece para siempre.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

24 Porque: Toda carne es como la hierba, y toda la gloria del hombre como la flor de la hierba: Se seca la hierba, y la flor se cae;

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

25 mas la palabra del Señor permanece para siempre. Y esta es la palabra que por el evangelio os ha sido anunciada.
