1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

1 En cuanto a las cosas de que me escribisteis, bueno es para el hombre no tocar mujer.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

2 Pero por causa de las fornicaciones, cada uno tenga su esposa, y cada una tenga su marido.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

3 El marido cumpla con la esposa el deber conyugal, y asimismo la esposa con el marido.

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

4 La esposa no tiene potestad sobre su propio cuerpo, sino el marido; ni tampoco el marido tiene potestad sobre su propio cuerpo, sino la esposa.

5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

5 No os neguéis el uno al otro, a no ser por algún tiempo de mutuo consentimiento, para ocuparos en el ayuno y la oración; y volved a juntaros en uno, para que no os tiente Satanás a causa de vuestra falta de dominio propio.

6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

6 Mas esto digo por vía de concesión, no por mandamiento.

7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

7 Quisiera más bien que todos los hombres fuesen como yo; pero cada uno tiene su propio don de Dios; uno a la verdad de una manera, y otro de otra.

8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

8 Digo, pues, a los solteros y a las viudas, que bueno les fuera quedarse como yo.

9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

9 Pero si carecen de dominio propio, cásense; que mejor es casarse que quemarse.

10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

10 Y a los que están unidos en matrimonio, mando, no yo, sino el Señor: Que la esposa no se separe del marido;

11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

11 y si se separa, quédese sin casar, o reconcíliese con su marido; y que el marido no abandone a su esposa.

12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

12 Y a los demás yo digo, no el Señor: Si algún hermano tiene esposa que no sea creyente, y ella consiente en vivir con él, no la abandone.

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

13 Y si una mujer tiene marido que no sea creyente, y él consiente en vivir con ella, no lo abandone.

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

14 Porque el marido no creyente es santificado por la esposa, y la esposa no creyente, por el marido; pues de otra manera vuestros hijos serían impuros; mientras que ahora son santos.

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

15 Pero si el no creyente se separa, sepárese, pues el hermano o la hermana no están sujetos a servidumbre en semejante caso, sino que a paz nos llamó Dios.

16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

16 Porque, ¿cómo sabes, oh mujer, si quizá salvarás a tu marido? O, ¿cómo sabes, oh marido, si quizá salvarás a tu esposa?

17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

17 Pero a cada uno como el Señor le repartió, y como Dios llamó a cada uno, así haga. Y así lo prescribo en todas las iglesias.

18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

18 ¿Fue llamado alguno ya circuncidado? Quédese circunciso. ¿Fue llamado alguno incircuncidado? No se circuncide.

19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

19 La circuncisión nada es, y la incircuncisión nada es; sino la observancia de los mandamientos de Dios.

20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

20 Cada uno en el llamamiento en que fue llamado, quédese en él.

21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

21 ¿Fuiste llamado siendo esclavo? No te preocupes; mas también, si puedes hacerte libre, procúralo.

22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

22 Porque el que en el Señor es llamado siendo esclavo, liberto es del Señor; asimismo, el que es llamado siendo libre, esclavo es de Cristo.

23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

23 Por precio sois comprados; no os hagáis esclavos de los hombres.

24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

24 Cada uno, hermanos, en el llamamiento en que fue llamado, así permanezca para con Dios.

25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

25 En cuanto a las que son vírgenes, no tengo mandamiento del Señor; pero doy mi parecer, como quien ha alcanzado misericordia del Señor para ser fiel.

26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

26 Tengo, pues, esto por bueno a causa de la dificultad que apremia, que bueno es al hombre quedarse así.

27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

27 ¿Estás ligado a esposa? No procures separarte. ¿Estás libre de mujer? No procures esposa.

28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

28 Mas también si te casas, no pecas; y si la doncella se casa, no peca; pero los tales tendrán aflicción de la carne, y yo os la quisiera evitar.

29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

29 Pero esto digo, hermanos: El tiempo es corto; resta, pues, que los que tienen esposa sean como si no las tuvieran,

30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

30 y los que lloran, como si no llorasen; y los que se regocijan, como si no se regocijasen; y los que compran, como si no poseyesen;

31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

31 y los que disfrutan las cosas de este mundo, como si no las disfrutasen, porque la forma actual de este mundo pasará.

32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

32 Quisiera, pues, que estuvieseis sin congoja. El soltero se preocupa por las cosas que son del Señor, de cómo agradar al Señor;

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

33 pero el casado se preocupa por las cosas que son del mundo, de cómo agradar a su esposa.

34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

34 Hay asimismo diferencia entre la casada y la doncella: la doncella se preocupa por las cosas del Señor, para ser santa tanto en el cuerpo como en el espíritu; pero la casada se preocupa por las cosas del mundo, de cómo agradar a su marido.

35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

35 Esto digo para vuestro provecho; no para poneros restricción, sino para lo honesto y decente, y para que sin impedimento os dediquéis al Señor.

36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.

36 Mas, si a alguno le parece que no se comporta correctamente con respecto a su doncella, que pasa ya de edad, y que conviene que se haga algo, haga lo que quiera, no peca; cásense.

37 Nevertheless he that standeth steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

37 Pero el que está firme en su corazón, y no tiene necesidad, sino que domina su voluntad, y ha determinado en su corazón guardar a su doncella, bien hace.

38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.

38 Así que, el que se da en casamiento, bien hace; y el que no se da en casamiento, hace mejor.

39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

39 La mujer casada está ligada por la ley a su marido mientras él vive; pero si su marido muere, queda libre para casarse con quien quiera, con tal que sea en el Señor.

40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

40 Pero, a mi juicio, más venturosa será si se queda así; y pienso que también yo tengo el Espíritu de Dios.
