1 My servant, Orson Hyde, was called by his ordination to proclaim the everlasting gospel, by the Spirit of the living God, from people to people, and from land to land, in the congregations of the wicked, in their synagogues, reasoning with and expounding all scriptures unto them.

1 Mi siervo Orson Hyde fue llamado mediante su ordenación para proclamar el evangelio sempiterno por el Espíritu del Dios viviente, de pueblo en pueblo, y de tierra en tierra, entre las congregaciones de los inicuos, en sus sinagogas, razonando con ellos y declarándoles todas las Escrituras.

2 And, behold, and lo, this is an ensample unto all those who were ordained unto this priesthood, whose mission is appointed unto them to go forth—

2 Y he aquí, esta es la norma para todos los que fueron ordenados a este sacerdocio, cuya misión de que salgan les ha sido indicada;

3 And this is the ensample unto them, that they shall speak as they are moved upon by the Holy Ghost.

3 y esta es la norma para ellos: Hablarán conforme los inspire el Espíritu Santo.

4 And whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shall be the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation.

4 Y lo que hablen cuando sean inspirados por el Espíritu Santo será Escritura, será la voluntad del Señor, será la intención del Señor, será la palabra del Señor, será la voz del Señor y el poder de Dios para salvación.

5 Behold, this is the promise of the Lord unto you, O ye my servants.

5 He aquí, esta es la promesa del Señor a vosotros, oh mis siervos.

6 Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

6 Sed de buen ánimo, pues, y no temáis, porque yo, el Señor, estoy con vosotros y os ampararé; y testificaréis de mí, sí, Jesucristo, que soy el Hijo del Dios viviente; que fui, que soy y que he de venir.

7 This is the word of the Lord unto you, my servant Orson Hyde, and also unto my servant Luke Johnson, and unto my servant Lyman Johnson, and unto my servant William E. McLellin, and unto all the faithful elders of my church—

7 Esta es la palabra del Señor a ti, mi siervo Orson Hyde, y también a Luke Johnson, a Lyman Johnson y a William E. McLellin, mis siervos, y a todos los fieles élderes de mi iglesia.

8 Go ye into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature, acting in the authority which I have given you, baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

8 Id por todo el mundo, predicad el evangelio a toda criatura, obrando mediante la autoridad que os he dado, bautizando en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo.

9 And he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, and he that believeth not shall be damned.

9 Y el que creyere y fuere bautizado, será salvo; y el que no creyere, será condenado.

10 And he that believeth shall be blest with signs following, even as it is written.

10 Y el que creyere será bendecido con señales que le acompañarán, tal como está escrito.

11 And unto you it shall be given to know the signs of the times, and the signs of the coming of the Son of Man;

11 Y a vosotros os será permitido conocer las señales de los tiempos, y las señales de la venida del Hijo del Hombre;

12 And of as many as the Father shall bear record, to you shall be given power to seal them up unto eternal life. Amen.

12 Y se os dará el poder de sellar para vida eterna a todos de quienes el Padre testifique. Amén.

13 And now, concerning the items in addition to the covenants and commandments, they are these—

13 Y ahora, en cuanto a los asuntos, aparte de los convenios y mandamientos, estos son:

14 There remain hereafter, in the due time of the Lord, other bishops to be set apart unto the church, to minister even according to the first;

14 Quedan por ser apartados más adelante, en el debido tiempo del Señor, otros obispos en la iglesia, los cuales ejercerán su ministerio como el primero.

15 Wherefore they shall be high priests who are worthy, and they shall be appointed by the First Presidency of the Melchizedek Priesthood, except they be literal descendants of Aaron.

15 Por consiguiente, han de ser sumos sacerdotes dignos, y serán nombrados por la Primera Presidencia del Sacerdocio de Melquisedec, a menos que sean descendientes literales de Aarón;

16 And if they be literal descendants of Aaron they have a legal right to the bishopric, if they are the firstborn among the sons of Aaron;

16 y si son descendientes literales de Aarón, tienen el derecho legal de ocupar el obispado, si son los primogénitos de entre los hijos de Aarón;

17 For the firstborn holds the right of the presidency over this priesthood, and the keys or authority of the same.

17 porque el primogénito posee el derecho de la presidencia de este sacerdocio y las llaves o autoridad de este.

18 No man has a legal right to this office, to hold the keys of this priesthood, except he be a literal descendant and the firstborn of Aaron.

18 Ningún hombre tiene el derecho legal de ocupar este oficio, de tener las llaves de este sacerdocio, salvo que sea descendiente literal y el primogénito de Aarón.

19 But, as a high priest of the Melchizedek Priesthood has authority to officiate in all the lesser offices he may officiate in the office of bishop when no literal descendant of Aaron can be found, provided he is called and set apart and ordained unto this power, under the hands of the First Presidency of the Melchizedek Priesthood.

19 Pero en vista de que un sumo sacerdote del Sacerdocio de Melquisedec tiene la autoridad para funcionar en todos los oficios menores, él puede desempeñar el oficio de obispo cuando no se encuentre a un descendiente literal de Aarón, siempre que sea llamado, apartado y ordenado a este poder por mano de la Primera Presidencia del Sacerdocio de Melquisedec.

20 And a literal descendant of Aaron, also, must be designated by this Presidency, and found worthy, and anointed, and ordained under the hands of this Presidency, otherwise they are not legally authorized to officiate in their priesthood.

20 Y un descendiente literal de Aarón también debe ser designado por esta Presidencia, y considerado digno, y por mano de ellos ser ungido y ordenado; de otra manera, no queda legalmente autorizado para oficiar en su sacerdocio.

21 But, by virtue of the decree concerning their right of the priesthood descending from father to son, they may claim their anointing if at any time they can prove their lineage, or do ascertain it by revelation from the Lord under the hands of the above named Presidency.

21 Mas en virtud del decreto concerniente a su derecho del sacerdocio que desciende de padre a hijo, pueden reclamar su unción, si en cualquier momento pueden comprobar su linaje, o lo determinan por revelación del Señor bajo las manos de la Presidencia ya nombrada.

22 And again, no bishop or high priest who shall be set apart for this ministry shall be tried or condemned for any crime, save it be before the First Presidency of the church;

22 Y además, ningún obispo o sumo sacerdote que fuere apartado para este ministerio ha de ser juzgado ni condenado por delito alguno, sino ante la Primera Presidencia de la iglesia;

23 And inasmuch as he is found guilty before this Presidency, by testimony that cannot be impeached, he shall be condemned;

23 y si es hallado culpable ante esta Presidencia, por testimonio irrefutable, será condenado;

24 And if he repent he shall be forgiven, according to the covenants and commandments of the church.

24 y si se arrepiente será perdonado, de acuerdo con los convenios y los mandamientos de la iglesia.

25 And again, inasmuch as parents have children in Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized, that teach them not to understand the doctrine of repentance, faith in Christ the Son of the living God, and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands, when eight years old, the sin be upon the heads of the parents.

25 Y además, si hay padres que tengan hijos en Sion o en cualquiera de sus estacas organizadas, y no les enseñen a comprender la doctrina del arrepentimiento, de la fe en Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente, del bautismo y del don del Espíritu Santo por la imposición de manos, al llegar a la edad de ocho años, el pecado será sobre la cabeza de los padres.

26 For this shall be a law unto the inhabitants of Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized.

26 Porque esta será una ley para los habitantes de Sion, o en cualquiera de sus estacas que se hayan organizado.

27 And their children shall be baptized for the remission of their sins when eight years old, and receive the laying on of the hands.

27 Y sus hijos serán bautizados para la remisión de sus pecados cuando tengan ocho años de edad, y recibirán la imposición de manos.

28 And they shall also teach their children to pray, and to walk uprightly before the Lord.

28 Y también enseñarán a sus hijos a orar y a andar rectamente delante del Señor.

29 And the inhabitants of Zion shall also observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

29 Y los habitantes de Sion también observarán el día del Señor para santificarlo.

30 And the inhabitants of Zion also shall remember their labors, inasmuch as they are appointed to labor, in all faithfulness; for the idler shall be had in remembrance before the Lord.

30 Y en vista de que se les manda trabajar, los habitantes de Sion también han de recordar sus tareas con toda fidelidad, porque se tendrá presente al ocioso ante el Señor.

31 Now, I, the Lord, am not well pleased with the inhabitants of Zion, for there are idlers among them; and their children are also growing up in wickedness; they also seek not earnestly the riches of eternity, but their eyes are full of greediness.

31 Ahora, yo, el Señor, no estoy bien complacido con los habitantes de Sion, porque hay ociosos entre ellos; y sus hijos también están creciendo en la iniquidad; tampoco buscan con empeño las riquezas de la eternidad, antes sus ojos están llenos de avaricia.

32 These things ought not to be, and must be done away from among them; wherefore, let my servant Oliver Cowdery carry these sayings unto the land of Zion.

32 Estas cosas no deben ser, y tienen que ser desechadas de entre ellos; por consiguiente, lleve mi siervo Oliver Cowdery estas palabras a la tierra de Sion.

33 And a commandment I give unto them—that he that observeth not his prayers before the Lord in the season thereof, let him be had in remembrance before the judge of my people.

33 Y un mandamiento les doy: Quien no cumpla con sus oraciones ante el Señor en el momento debido, hágase memoria de él ante el juez de mi pueblo.

34 These sayings are true and faithful; wherefore, transgress them not, neither take therefrom.

34 Estas palabras son verdaderas y fieles; por tanto, no las violéis, ni tampoco quitéis de ellas.

35 Behold, I am Alpha and Omega, and I come quickly. Amen.

35 He aquí, soy el Alfa y la Omega, y vengo pronto. Amén.
