1 Behold, blessed, saith the Lord, are they who have come up unto this land with an eye single to my glory, according to my commandments.

1 He aquí, dice el Señor, benditos son aquellos que han subido a esta tierra con la mira puesta únicamente en mi gloria, de acuerdo con mis mandamientos.

2 For those that live shall inherit the earth, and those that die shall rest from all their labors, and their works shall follow them; and they shall receive a crown in the mansions of my Father, which I have prepared for them.

2 Porque los que vivan heredarán la tierra; y los que mueran descansarán de todos sus trabajos, y sus obras los seguirán; y recibirán una corona en las mansiones de mi Padre que he preparado para ellos.

3 Yea, blessed are they whose feet stand upon the land of Zion, who have obeyed my gospel; for they shall receive for their reward the good things of the earth, and it shall bring forth in its strength.

3 Sí, benditos son aquellos cuyos pies descansan sobre la tierra de Sion, que han obedecido mi evangelio; porque recibirán como recompensa las cosas buenas de la tierra, la cual producirá con su fuerza.

4 And they shall also be crowned with blessings from above, yea, and with commandments not a few, and with revelations in their time—they that are faithful and diligent before me.

4 Y también serán coronados con bendiciones de arriba, sí, y con mandamientos no pocos, y con revelaciones a su tiempo, aquellos que son fieles y diligentes delante de mí.

5 Wherefore, I give unto them a commandment, saying thus: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy might, mind, and strength; and in the name of Jesus Christ thou shalt serve him.

5 Por tanto, les doy un mandamiento que dice así: Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, alma, mente y fuerza; y en el nombre de Jesucristo lo servirás.

6 Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Thou shalt not steal; neither commit adultery, nor kill, nor do anything like unto it.

6 Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. No hurtarás; no cometerás adulterio; no matarás, ni harás ninguna cosa semejante.

7 Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.

7 Darás las gracias al Señor tu Dios en todas las cosas.

8 Thou shalt offer a sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in righteousness, even that of a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

8 Ofrecerás un sacrificio al Señor tu Dios en rectitud, sí, el de un corazón quebrantado y un espíritu contrito.

9 And that thou mayest more fully keep thyself unspotted from the world, thou shalt go to the house of prayer and offer up thy sacraments upon my holy day;

9 Y para que más íntegramente te conserves sin mancha del mundo, irás a la casa de oración y ofrecerás tus sacramentos en mi día santo;

10 For verily this is a day appointed unto you to rest from your labors, and to pay thy devotions unto the Most High;

10 porque, en verdad, este es un día que se te ha señalado para descansar de tus obras y rendir tus devociones al Altísimo;

11 Nevertheless thy vows shall be offered up in righteousness on all days and at all times;

11 sin embargo, tus votos se ofrecerán en rectitud todos los días y a todo tiempo;

12 But remember that on this, the Lord's day, thou shalt offer thine oblations and thy sacraments unto the Most High, confessing thy sins unto thy brethren, and before the Lord.

12 pero recuerda que en este, el día del Señor, ofrecerás tus ofrendas y tus sacramentos al Altísimo, confesando tus pecados a tus hermanos, y ante el Señor.

13 And on this day thou shalt do none other thing, only let thy food be prepared with singleness of heart that thy fasting may be perfect, or, in other words, that thy joy may be full.

13 Y en este día no harás ninguna otra cosa sino preparar tus alimentos con sencillez de corazón, a fin de que tus ayunos sean perfectos, o en otras palabras, que tu gozo sea cabal.

14 Verily, this is fasting and prayer, or in other words, rejoicing and prayer.

14 De cierto, esto es ayunar y orar, o en otras palabras, regocijarse y orar.

15 And inasmuch as ye do these things with thanksgiving, with cheerful hearts and countenances, not with much laughter, for this is sin, but with a glad heart and a cheerful countenance—

15 Y si hacéis estas cosas con acción de gracias, con corazones y semblantes alegres, no con mucha risa, porque esto es pecado, sino con corazones felices y semblantes alegres,

16 Verily I say, that inasmuch as ye do this, the fulness of the earth is yours, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and that which climbeth upon the trees and walketh upon the earth;

16 de cierto os digo, que si hacéis esto, la abundancia de la tierra será vuestra, las bestias del campo y las aves del cielo, y lo que trepa a los árboles y anda sobre la tierra;

17 Yea, and the herb, and the good things which come of the earth, whether for food or for raiment, or for houses, or for barns, or for orchards, or for gardens, or for vineyards;

17 sí, y la hierba y las cosas buenas que produce la tierra, ya sea para alimento, o vestidura, o casas, alfolíes, huertos, jardines o viñas;

18 Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart;

18 sí, todas las cosas que de la tierra salen, en su sazón, son hechas para el beneficio y el uso del hombre, tanto para agradar la vista como para alegrar el corazón;

19 Yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul.

19 sí, para ser alimento y vestidura, para gustar y oler, para vigorizar el cuerpo y animar el alma.

20 And it pleaseth God that he hath given all these things unto man; for unto this end were they made to be used, with judgment, not to excess, neither by extortion.

20 Y complace a Dios haber dado todas estas cosas al hombre; porque para este fin fueron creadas, para usarse con juicio, no en exceso, ni por extorsión.

21 And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.

21 Y en nada ofende el hombre a Dios, ni contra ninguno está encendida su ira, sino contra aquellos que no confiesan su mano en todas las cosas y no obedecen sus mandamientos.

22 Behold, this is according to the law and the prophets; wherefore, trouble me no more concerning this matter.

22 He aquí, esto va de acuerdo a la ley y los profetas; por tanto, no me molestéis más en cuanto a este asunto.

23 But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come.

23 Aprended, más bien, que el que hiciere obras justas recibirá su galardón, sí, la paz en este mundo, y la vida eterna en el mundo venidero.

24 I, the Lord, have spoken it, and the Spirit beareth record. Amen.

24 Yo, el Señor, lo he hablado, y el Espíritu da testimonio. Amén.
