1 Hearken, O ye elders of my church, and give ear to the voice of the living God; and attend to the words of wisdom which shall be given unto you, according as ye have asked and are agreed as touching the church, and the spirits which have gone abroad in the earth.

1 Escuchad, oh élderes de mi iglesia, y dad oído a la voz del Dios viviente; y prestad atención a las palabras de sabiduría que os serán dadas, según lo que habéis preguntado y acordado, en relación con la iglesia y los espíritus que andan por la tierra.

2 Behold, verily I say unto you, that there are many spirits which are false spirits, which have gone forth in the earth, deceiving the world.

2 He aquí, de cierto os digo, que hay muchos espíritus que son falsos, los cuales se han esparcido por la tierra, engañando al mundo.

3 And also Satan hath sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you.

3 Y también Satanás ha intentado engañaros, para destruiros.

4 Behold, I, the Lord, have looked upon you, and have seen abominations in the church that profess my name.

4 He aquí, yo, el Señor, os he observado, y he visto abominaciones en la iglesia que profesa mi nombre.

5 But blessed are they who are faithful and endure, whether in life or in death, for they shall inherit eternal life.

5 Pero benditos son aquellos que son fieles y perseveran, sea en vida o muerte, porque heredarán la vida eterna.

6 But wo unto them that are deceivers and hypocrites, for, thus saith the Lord, I will bring them to judgment.

6 Pero, ¡ay de los que son engañadores e hipócritas! Porque, así dice el Señor, los traeré a juicio.

7 Behold, verily I say unto you, there are hypocrites among you, who have deceived some, which has given the adversary power; but behold such shall be reclaimed;

7 He aquí, de cierto os digo, hay hipócritas entre vosotros, los cuales han engañado a algunos, cosa que ha dado poder al adversario; pero he aquí, estos serán rescatados;

8 But the hypocrites shall be detected and shall be cut off, either in life or in death, even as I will; and wo unto them who are cut off from my church, for the same are overcome of the world.

8 mas los hipócritas serán descubiertos y desarraigados, sea en vida o muerte, según mi voluntad; y, ¡ay de los que son separados de mi iglesia!, porque estos son vencidos por el mundo.

9 Wherefore, let every man beware lest he do that which is not in truth and righteousness before me.

9 Por tanto, cuídese cada hombre, no sea que haga lo que no es recto y verdadero ante mí.

10 And now come, saith the Lord, by the Spirit, unto the elders of his church, and let us reason together, that ye may understand;

10 Y ahora venid, dice el Señor por el Espíritu a los élderes de su iglesia, y razonemos juntos para que entendáis;

11 Let us reason even as a man reasoneth one with another face to face.

11 razonemos así como un hombre razona con otro, cara a cara.

12 Now, when a man reasoneth he is understood of man, because he reasoneth as a man; even so will I, the Lord, reason with you that you may understand.

12 Ahora bien, cuando el hombre razona, es comprendido por el hombre, porque razona como hombre; así también yo, el Señor, razonaré con vosotros para que comprendáis.

13 Wherefore, I the Lord ask you this question—unto what were ye ordained?

13 Por tanto, yo, el Señor, os hago esta pregunta: ¿A qué se os ordenó?

14 To preach my gospel by the Spirit, even the Comforter which was sent forth to teach the truth.

14 A predicar mi evangelio por el Espíritu, sí, el Consolador que fue enviado para enseñar la verdad.

15 And then received ye spirits which ye could not understand, and received them to be of God; and in this are ye justified?

15 Y entonces recibisteis espíritus que no pudisteis comprender, y los recibisteis como si hubieran sido de Dios; ¿y se os puede justificar en esto?

16 Behold ye shall answer this question yourselves; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto you; he that is weak among you hereafter shall be made strong.

16 He aquí, vosotros mismos contestaréis esta pregunta; sin embargo, seré misericordioso con vosotros; el que de entre vosotros es débil será hecho fuerte de aquí en adelante.

17 Verily I say unto you, he that is ordained of me and sent forth to preach the word of truth by the Comforter, in the Spirit of truth, doth he preach it by the Spirit of truth or some other way?

17 De cierto os digo, el que es ordenado por mí y enviado a predicar la palabra de verdad por el Consolador, en el Espíritu de verdad, ¿la predica por el Espíritu de verdad o de alguna otra manera?

18 And if it be by some other way it is not of God.

18 Y si es de alguna otra manera, no es de Dios.

19 And again, he that receiveth the word of truth, doth he receive it by the Spirit of truth or some other way?

19 Y además, el que recibe la palabra de verdad, ¿la recibe por el Espíritu de verdad o de alguna otra manera?

20 If it be some other way it is not of God.

20 Si es de alguna otra manera, no es de Dios.

21 Therefore, why is it that ye cannot understand and know, that he that receiveth the word by the Spirit of truth receiveth it as it is preached by the Spirit of truth?

21 Por tanto, ¿cómo es que no podéis comprender y saber que el que recibe la palabra por el Espíritu de verdad, la recibe como la predica el Espíritu de verdad?

22 Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together.

22 De manera que, el que la predica y el que la recibe se comprenden el uno al otro, y ambos son edificados y se regocijan juntamente.

23 And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness.

23 Y lo que no edifica no es de Dios, y es tinieblas.

24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.

24 Lo que es de Dios es luz; y el que recibe luz y persevera en Dios, recibe más luz, y esa luz se hace más y más resplandeciente hasta el día perfecto.

25 And again, verily I say unto you, and I say it that you may know the truth, that you may chase darkness from among you;

25 Y además, de cierto os digo, y lo digo para que sepáis la verdad, a fin de que desechéis las tinieblas de entre vosotros:

26 He that is ordained of God and sent forth, the same is appointed to be the greatest, notwithstanding he is the least and the servant of all.

26 El que es ordenado por Dios y enviado, este es nombrado para ser el mayor, a pesar de ser el menor y el siervo de todos.

27 Wherefore, he is possessor of all things; for all things are subject unto him, both in heaven and on the earth, the life and the light, the Spirit and the power, sent forth by the will of the Father through Jesus Christ, his Son.

27 Por tanto, es poseedor de todas las cosas; porque todas las cosas le están sujetas, tanto en los cielos como en la tierra, la vida y la luz, el Espíritu y el poder, enviados por la voluntad del Padre mediante Jesucristo su Hijo.

28 But no man is possessor of all things except he be purified and cleansed from all sin.

28 Pero ningún hombre posee todas las cosas, a menos que sea purificado y limpiado de todo pecado.

29 And if ye are purified and cleansed from all sin, ye shall ask whatsoever you will in the name of Jesus and it shall be done.

29 Y si sois purificados y limpiados de todo pecado, pediréis cuanto quisiereis en el nombre de Jesús y se cumplirá.

30 But know this, it shall be given you what you shall ask; and as ye are appointed to the head, the spirits shall be subject unto you.

30 Mas sabed esto, que os será indicado lo que debéis pedir; y como sois nombrados para estar a la cabeza, los espíritus se os sujetarán.

31 Wherefore, it shall come to pass, that if you behold a spirit manifested that you cannot understand, and you receive not that spirit, ye shall ask of the Father in the name of Jesus; and if he give not unto you that spirit, then you may know that it is not of God.

31 Por tanto, acontecerá que si veis manifestado un espíritu que no podéis comprender, y no recibís a ese espíritu, pediréis al Padre en el nombre de Jesús; y si él no os da a conocer ese espíritu, entonces sabréis que no es de Dios.

32 And it shall be given unto you, power over that spirit; and you shall proclaim against that spirit with a loud voice that it is not of God—

32 Y os será dado poder sobre ese espíritu; y proclamaréis contra dicho espíritu en voz alta, que no es de Dios;

33 Not with railing accusation, that ye be not overcome, neither with boasting nor rejoicing, lest you be seized therewith.

33 no con acusaciones injuriosas, para que no seáis vencidos; ni con jactancia ni regocijo, para que no seáis asidos por él.

34 He that receiveth of God, let him account it of God; and let him rejoice that he is accounted of God worthy to receive.

34 Aquel que de Dios reciba, acredíteselo a Dios, y regocíjese de que Dios lo considere digno de recibir.

35 And by giving heed and doing these things which ye have received, and which ye shall hereafter receive—and the kingdom is given you of the Father, and power to overcome all things which are not ordained of him—

35 Y escuchando y haciendo estas cosas que habéis recibido y las que en adelante recibiréis—y el Padre os ha dado el reino y el poder para vencer todas las cosas que por él no son ordenadas—

36 And behold, verily I say unto you, blessed are you who are now hearing these words of mine from the mouth of my servant, for your sins are forgiven you.

36 he aquí, de cierto os digo, benditos sois vosotros que ahora estáis escuchando estas palabras mías de la boca de mi siervo, porque vuestros pecados os son perdonados.

37 Let my servant Joseph Wakefield, in whom I am well pleased, and my servant Parley P. Pratt go forth among the churches and strengthen them by the word of exhortation;

37 Salgan mi siervo Joseph Wakefield, con quien estoy bien complacido, y mi siervo Parley P. Pratt, entre las iglesias para fortalecerlas con la palabra de exhortación;

38 And also my servant John Corrill, or as many of my servants as are ordained unto this office, and let them labor in the vineyard; and let no man hinder them doing that which I have appointed unto them—

38 y también mi siervo John Corrill, o cuantos de mis siervos sean ordenados a este oficio; y obren en la viña; y nadie les impida hacer lo que yo les he señalado.

39 Wherefore, in this thing my servant Edward Partridge is not justified; nevertheless let him repent and he shall be forgiven.

39 Por tanto, no queda justificado mi siervo Edward Partridge en esto; no obstante, arrepiéntase y será perdonado.

40 Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.

40 He aquí, sois niños pequeños y no podéis soportar todas las cosas por ahora; debéis crecer en gracia y en el conocimiento de la verdad.

41 Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me;

41 No temáis, pequeñitos, porque sois míos, y yo he vencido al mundo, y vosotros sois de aquellos que mi Padre me ha dado;

42 And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost.

42 y ninguno de los que el Padre me ha dado se perderá.

43 And the Father and I are one. I am in the Father and the Father in me; and inasmuch as ye have received me, ye are in me and I in you.

43 Y el Padre y yo somos uno. Yo soy en el Padre y el Padre en mí; y por cuanto me habéis recibido, vosotros sois en mí y yo en vosotros.

44 Wherefore, I am in your midst, and I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall.

44 Por tanto, estoy en medio de vosotros, y soy el buen pastor y la roca de Israel. El que edifique sobre esta roca nunca caerá.

45 And the day cometh that you shall hear my voice and see me, and know that I am.

45 Y viene el día en que oiréis mi voz y me veréis, y sabréis que yo soy.

46 Watch, therefore, that ye may be ready. Even so. Amen.

46 Velad, pues, para que estéis apercibidos. Así sea. Amén.
