1 O hearken, ye elders of my church, and give ear to the words which I shall speak unto you.

1 Escuchad, oh élderes de mi iglesia, y dad oído a las palabras que os hablaré.

2 For behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye have received a commandment for a law unto my church, through him whom I have appointed unto you to receive commandments and revelations from my hand.

2 Porque he aquí, de cierto, de cierto os digo, que habéis recibido un mandamiento que será por ley a mi iglesia, por conducto de aquel a quien os he nombrado para recibir mandamientos y revelaciones de mi mano.

3 And this ye shall know assuredly—that there is none other appointed unto you to receive commandments and revelations until he be taken, if he abide in me.

3 Y esto sabréis con certeza, que no se os ha nombrado a ningún otro para que reciba mandamientos y revelaciones, hasta que él sea llevado, si persevera en mí.

4 But verily, verily, I say unto you, that none else shall be appointed unto this gift except it be through him; for if it be taken from him he shall not have power except to appoint another in his stead.

4 Pero de cierto, de cierto os digo, que ningún otro será nombrado a este don sino por medio de él; porque si le fuere quitado, no tendrá poder sino para nombrar a otro en su lugar.

5 And this shall be a law unto you, that ye receive not the teachings of any that shall come before you as revelations or commandments;

5 Y esto os será por ley: No recibiréis como revelaciones ni como mandamientos las enseñanzas de ninguno que se presente ante vosotros;

6 And this I give unto you that you may not be deceived, that you may know they are not of me.

6 y esto os lo doy para que no seáis engañados, y para que sepáis que no son de mí.

7 For verily I say unto you, that he that is ordained of me shall come in at the gate and be ordained as I have told you before, to teach those revelations which you have received and shall receive through him whom I have appointed.

7 Porque en verdad os digo, que el que es ordenado por mí entrará por la puerta y será ordenado, como os he dicho antes, para enseñar las revelaciones que habéis recibido y que recibiréis por medio de aquel a quien yo he nombrado.

8 And now, behold, I give unto you a commandment, that when ye are assembled together ye shall instruct and edify each other, that ye may know how to act and direct my church, how to act upon the points of my law and commandments, which I have given.

8 Y ahora bien, he aquí, un mandamiento os doy, que al estar reunidos os instruyáis y os edifiquéis unos a otros, para que sepáis cómo conduciros, y cómo dirigir mi iglesia, y cómo obrar de conformidad con los puntos de mi ley y mis mandamientos que he dado.

9 And thus ye shall become instructed in the law of my church, and be sanctified by that which ye have received, and ye shall bind yourselves to act in all holiness before me—

9 Y así seréis instruidos en la ley de mi iglesia, y seréis santificados por lo que habéis recibido, y os obligaréis a obrar con toda santidad ante mí,

10 That inasmuch as ye do this, glory shall be added to the kingdom which ye have received. Inasmuch as ye do it not, it shall be taken, even that which ye have received.

10 a fin de que, si hacéis esto, se añada gloria al reino que habéis recibido. Si no lo hacéis, os será quitado aun lo que habéis recibido.

11 Purge ye out the iniquity which is among you; sanctify yourselves before me;

11 Depuraos de la iniquidad que hay entre vosotros; santificaos delante de mí;

12 And if ye desire the glories of the kingdom, appoint ye my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and uphold him before me by the prayer of faith.

12 y si deseáis las glorias del reino, nombrad a mi siervo José Smith, hijo, y sostenedlo ante mí con la oración de fe.

13 And again, I say unto you, that if ye desire the mysteries of the kingdom, provide for him food and raiment, and whatsoever thing he needeth to accomplish the work wherewith I have commanded him;

13 Y además, os digo que si deseáis los misterios del reino, proporcionadle alimento, ropa y cualquiera otra cosa que necesite para cumplir la obra que le he mandado;

14 And if ye do it not he shall remain unto them that have received him, that I may reserve unto myself a pure people before me.

14 y si no lo hacéis, él permanecerá para el beneficio de los que lo han recibido, a fin de que yo aparte para mí un pueblo puro.

15 Again I say, hearken ye elders of my church, whom I have appointed: Ye are not sent forth to be taught, but to teach the children of men the things which I have put into your hands by the power of my Spirit;

15 De nuevo digo, escuchad, élderes de mi iglesia, a quienes he nombrado: No sois enviados para que se os enseñe, sino para enseñar a los hijos de los hombres las cosas que yo he puesto en vuestras manos por el poder de mi Espíritu;

16 And ye are to be taught from on high. Sanctify yourselves and ye shall be endowed with power, that ye may give even as I have spoken.

16 y a vosotros se os enseñará de lo alto. Santificaos y seréis investidos con poder, para que impartáis como yo he hablado.

17 Hearken ye, for, behold, the great day of the Lord is nigh at hand.

17 Escuchad, pues he aquí, el gran día del Señor está cerca.

18 For the day cometh that the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven; the heavens shall shake and the earth shall tremble, and the trump of God shall sound both long and loud, and shall say to the sleeping nations: Ye saints arise and live; ye sinners stay and sleep until I shall call again.

18 Porque viene el día en que el Señor hará resonar su voz desde el cielo; los cielos se estremecerán y la tierra temblará, y la trompeta de Dios sonará larga y fuertemente, y dirá a las naciones dormidas: ¡Levantaos, santos, y vivid; quedaos, pecadores, y dormid hasta que llame otra vez!

19 Wherefore gird up your loins lest ye be found among the wicked.

19 Por lo tanto, ceñid vuestros lomos, no sea que se os halle entre los inicuos.

20 Lift up your voices and spare not. Call upon the nations to repent, both old and young, both bond and free, saying: Prepare yourselves for the great day of the Lord;

20 Levantad vuestras voces sin cesar. Llamad a las naciones a que se arrepientan, tanto ancianos como jóvenes, ora esclavos o libres, diciendo: Preparaos para el gran día del Señor;

21 For if I, who am a man, do lift up my voice and call upon you to repent, and ye hate me, what will ye say when the day cometh when the thunders shall utter their voices from the ends of the earth, speaking to the ears of all that live, saying—Repent, and prepare for the great day of the Lord?

21 porque si yo, que soy hombre, alzo mi voz y os llamo al arrepentimiento, y me aborrecéis, ¿qué diréis cuando venga el día en que los truenos hagan oír sus voces desde los extremos de la tierra, hablando a los oídos de todos los vivientes, diciendo: Arrepentíos y preparaos para el gran día del Señor?

22 Yea, and again, when the lightnings shall streak forth from the east unto the west, and shall utter forth their voices unto all that live, and make the ears of all tingle that hear, saying these words—Repent ye, for the great day of the Lord is come?

22 Sí, ¿y cuando los relámpagos resplandezcan desde el este hasta el oeste, y llegue el clamor de sus voces a todos los vivientes, haciendo zumbar los oídos de todos los que oigan, diciendo: Arrepentíos, porque el gran día del Señor ha llegado?

23 And again, the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven, saying: Hearken, O ye nations of the earth, and hear the words of that God who made you.

23 Y además, el Señor emitirá su voz desde los cielos, diciendo: ¡Escuchad, oh naciones de la tierra, y oíd las palabras del Dios que os hizo!

24 O, ye nations of the earth, how often would I have gathered you together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, but ye would not!

24 ¡Oh vosotras, naciones de la tierra, cuántas veces os hubiera juntado como la gallina junta a sus polluelos debajo de sus alas, mas no quisisteis!

25 How oft have I called upon you by the mouth of my servants, and by the ministering of angels, and by mine own voice, and by the voice of thunderings, and by the voice of lightnings, and by the voice of tempests, and by the voice of earthquakes, and great hailstorms, and by the voice of famines and pestilences of every kind, and by the great sound of a trump, and by the voice of judgment, and by the voice of mercy all the day long, and by the voice of glory and honor and the riches of eternal life, and would have saved you with an everlasting salvation, but ye would not!

25 ¡Cuántas veces os he llamado por boca de mis siervos y por la ministración de ángeles, y por mi propia voz y por la de los truenos y la de los relámpagos y la de las tempestades; y por la voz de terremotos y de fuertes granizadas, y la de hambres y pestilencias de todas clases; y por el gran sonido de una trompeta, y por la voz del juicio y de la misericordia todo el día; y por la voz de gloria y de honra y la de las riquezas de la vida eterna, y os hubiera salvado con una salvación sempiterna, mas no quisisteis!

26 Behold, the day has come, when the cup of the wrath of mine indignation is full.

26 He aquí, ha llegado el día en que la copa de la ira de mi indignación está llena.

27 Behold, verily I say unto you, that these are the words of the Lord your God.

27 He aquí, en verdad os digo, que estas son las palabras del Señor vuestro Dios.

28 Wherefore, labor ye, labor ye in my vineyard for the last time—for the last time call upon the inhabitants of the earth.

28 Por tanto, trabajad, trabajad en mi viña por última vez; por vez postrera llamad a los habitantes de la tierra.

29 For in mine own due time will I come upon the earth in judgment, and my people shall be redeemed and shall reign with me on earth.

29 Porque en mi propio y debido tiempo vendré sobre la tierra en juicio, y mi pueblo será redimido y reinará conmigo sobre la tierra.

30 For the great Millennium, of which I have spoken by the mouth of my servants, shall come.

30 Porque vendrá el gran Milenio, del cual he hablado por boca de mis siervos.

31 For Satan shall be bound, and when he is loosed again he shall only reign for a little season, and then cometh the end of the earth.

31 Porque Satanás será atado; y cuando de nuevo quede libre, reinará solamente una corta temporada, y entonces vendrá el fin de la tierra.

32 And he that liveth in righteousness shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye, and the earth shall pass away so as by fire.

32 Y el que viviere en rectitud será cambiado en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, y la tierra pasará como si fuera por fuego.

33 And the wicked shall go away into unquenchable fire, and their end no man knoweth on earth, nor ever shall know, until they come before me in judgment.

33 Y los inicuos irán al fuego inextinguible, y ningún hombre en la tierra sabe el fin de ellos, ni lo sabrá jamás, sino hasta que comparezcan delante de mí en juicio.

34 Hearken ye to these words. Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Treasure these things up in your hearts, and let the solemnities of eternity rest upon your minds.

34 Escuchad estas palabras. He aquí, soy Jesucristo, el Salvador del mundo. Atesorad estas cosas en vuestro corazón, y reposen en vuestra mente las solemnidades de la eternidad.

35 Be sober. Keep all my commandments. Even so. Amen.

35 Sed sobrios. Guardad todos mis mandamientos. Así sea. Amén.
