1 Thus saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, the Great I AM, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the same which looked upon the wide expanse of eternity, and all the seraphic hosts of heaven, before the world was made;

1 Así dice el Señor vuestro Dios, Jesucristo, el Gran YO SOY, el Alfa y la Omega, el principio y el fin, el mismo que contempló la vasta expansión de la eternidad y todas las huestes seráficas del cielo antes que el mundo fuese hecho;

2 The same which knoweth all things, for all things are present before mine eyes;

2 el mismo que conoce todas las cosas, porque todas están presentes ante mis ojos.

3 I am the same which spake, and the world was made, and all things came by me.

3 Soy el mismo que hablé, y el mundo fue hecho, y todas las cosas llegaron a existir por mí.

4 I am the same which have taken the Zion of Enoch into mine own bosom; and verily, I say, even as many as have believed in my name, for I am Christ, and in mine own name, by the virtue of the blood which I have spilt, have I pleaded before the Father for them.

4 Soy el mismo que he llevado la Sion de Enoc a mi propio seno; y de cierto digo, aun por cuantos han creído en mi nombre, porque yo soy Cristo, y en mi propio nombre, en virtud de la sangre que he derramado, he abogado por ellos ante el Padre.

5 But behold, the residue of the wicked have I kept in chains of darkness until the judgment of the great day, which shall come at the end of the earth;

5 Mas he aquí, he guardado al resto de los inicuos en cadenas de tinieblas hasta el juicio del gran día que vendrá al fin de la tierra;

6 And even so will I cause the wicked to be kept, that will not hear my voice but harden their hearts, and wo, wo, wo, is their doom.

6 y así haré que sean guardados los inicuos que no quieren oír mi voz, antes endurecen sus corazones; y, ¡ay, ay, ay de ellos!

7 But behold, verily, verily, I say unto you that mine eyes are upon you. I am in your midst and ye cannot see me;

7 Pero he aquí, de cierto, de cierto os digo, que mis ojos están sobre vosotros. Estoy en medio de vosotros y no me podéis ver;

8 But the day soon cometh that ye shall see me, and know that I am; for the veil of darkness shall soon be rent, and he that is not purified shall not abide the day.

8 pero pronto vendrá el día en que me veréis, y sabréis que yo soy; porque el velo de tinieblas en breve será rasgado, y el que no esté purificado no soportará el día.

9 Wherefore, gird up your loins and be prepared. Behold, the kingdom is yours, and the enemy shall not overcome.

9 Por tanto, ceñid vuestros lomos y estad apercibidos. He aquí, el reino es vuestro, y el enemigo no triunfará.

10 Verily I say unto you, ye are clean, but not all; and there is none else with whom I am well pleased;

10 En verdad os digo que os halláis limpios, mas no todos; y con ningún otro estoy bien complacido.

11 For all flesh is corrupted before me; and the powers of darkness prevail upon the earth, among the children of men, in the presence of all the hosts of heaven—

11 Porque toda carne se ha corrompido delante de mí; y los poderes de las tinieblas prevalecen en la tierra, entre los hijos de los hombres, en presencia de todas las huestes de los cielos.

12 Which causeth silence to reign, and all eternity is pained, and the angels are waiting the great command to reap down the earth, to gather the tares that they may be burned; and, behold, the enemy is combined.

12 Por lo que reina el silencio, y toda la eternidad padece, y los ángeles esperan el gran mandamiento de segar la tierra para juntar la cizaña y quemarla; y he aquí, el enemigo se ha combinado.

13 And now I show unto you a mystery, a thing which is had in secret chambers, to bring to pass even your destruction in process of time, and ye knew it not;

13 Y ahora os descubro un misterio, una cosa que se halla en las cámaras secretas, para llevar a cabo vuestra destrucción con el transcurso del tiempo, y no lo supisteis;

14 But now I tell it unto you, and ye are blessed, not because of your iniquity, neither your hearts of unbelief; for verily some of you are guilty before me, but I will be merciful unto your weakness.

14 pero ahora os lo digo, y benditos sois, no por causa de vuestra iniquidad ni por vuestros corazones incrédulos; porque en verdad, algunos de vosotros sois culpables ante mí, pero seré misericordioso para con vuestras flaquezas.

15 Therefore, be ye strong from henceforth; fear not, for the kingdom is yours.

15 Por tanto, sed fuertes desde ahora en adelante; no temáis, porque el reino es vuestro.

16 And for your salvation I give unto you a commandment, for I have heard your prayers, and the poor have complained before me, and the rich have I made, and all flesh is mine, and I am no respecter of persons.

16 Y para vuestra salvación os doy un mandamiento, porque he escuchado vuestras oraciones, y los pobres se han quejado delante de mí, y a los ricos yo los hice, y toda carne es mía, y no hago acepción de personas.

17 And I have made the earth rich, and behold it is my footstool, wherefore, again I will stand upon it.

17 Y he hecho rica la tierra, y he aquí, es el estrado de mis pies; por tanto, de nuevo pondré mi pie sobre ella.

18 And I hold forth and deign to give unto you greater riches, even a land of promise, a land flowing with milk and honey, upon which there shall be no curse when the Lord cometh;

18 Y os ofrezco y estimo conveniente daros riquezas más grandes, sí, una tierra de promisión, una tierra en la que fluye leche y miel, sobre la que no habrá maldición cuando el Señor venga;

19 And I will give it unto you for the land of your inheritance, if you seek it with all your hearts.

19 y os la daré como tierra de vuestra herencia, si es que la procuráis con todo vuestro corazón.

20 And this shall be my covenant with you, ye shall have it for the land of your inheritance, and for the inheritance of your children forever, while the earth shall stand, and ye shall possess it again in eternity, no more to pass away.

20 Y este será mi convenio con vosotros, la recibiréis como tierra de vuestra herencia y como herencia de vuestros hijos para siempre, mientras dure la tierra, y la poseeréis otra vez en la eternidad, para nunca más volver a pasar.

21 But, verily I say unto you that in time ye shall have no king nor ruler, for I will be your king and watch over you.

21 Mas de cierto os digo, que vendrá tiempo cuando no tendréis rey ni gobernante, porque yo seré vuestro rey y velaré por vosotros.

22 Wherefore, hear my voice and follow me, and you shall be a free people, and ye shall have no laws but my laws when I come, for I am your lawgiver, and what can stay my hand?

22 Por tanto, escuchad mi voz y seguidme, y seréis un pueblo libre; y no tendréis más leyes que las mías cuando yo venga, porque soy vuestro legislador; y, ¿qué cosa hay que detenga mi mano?

23 But, verily I say unto you, teach one another according to the office wherewith I have appointed you;

23 Pero en verdad os digo, enseñaos los unos a los otros, de acuerdo con el oficio al cual os he llamado;

24 And let every man esteem his brother as himself, and practice virtue and holiness before me.

24 y estime cada hombre a su hermano como a sí mismo, y ponga en práctica la virtud y la santidad delante de mí.

25 And again I say unto you, let every man esteem his brother as himself.

25 Y de nuevo os digo, estime cada hombre a su hermano como a sí mismo.

26 For what man among you having twelve sons, and is no respecter of them, and they serve him obediently, and he saith unto the one: Be thou clothed in robes and sit thou here; and to the other: Be thou clothed in rags and sit thou there—and looketh upon his sons and saith I am just?

26 Porque, ¿quién de vosotros, si tiene doce hijos que le sirven obedientemente, y no hace acepción de ellos, dice a uno: Vístete de gala y siéntate aquí; y al otro: Vístete de harapos y siéntate allí, podrá luego mirarlos y decir soy justo?

27 Behold, this I have given unto you as a parable, and it is even as I am. I say unto you, be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.

27 He aquí, esto os lo he dado por parábola, y es como yo soy. Yo os digo: Sed uno; y si no sois uno, no sois míos.

28 And again, I say unto you that the enemy in the secret chambers seeketh your lives.

28 Y además, os digo que el enemigo en las cámaras secretas busca vuestra vida.

29 Ye hear of wars in far countries, and you say that there will soon be great wars in far countries, but ye know not the hearts of men in your own land.

29 Oís de guerras en países lejanos, y decís que pronto habrá grandes guerras en países lejanos, mas no conocéis el corazón de los hombres en vuestro propio país.

30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.

30 Os digo estas cosas a causa de vuestras oraciones; por lo tanto, atesorad sabiduría en vuestro seno, no sea que la maldad de los hombres os revele estas cosas por medio de su iniquidad, de una manera que retumbará en vuestros oídos con una voz más fuerte que la que sacudirá la tierra; mas si estáis preparados, no temeréis.

31 And that ye might escape the power of the enemy, and be gathered unto me a righteous people, without spot and blameless—

31 Y para que os escapéis del poder del enemigo y vengáis a mí, un pueblo justo, sin mancha e irreprochable,

32 Wherefore, for this cause I gave unto you the commandment that ye should go to the Ohio; and there I will give unto you my law; and there you shall be endowed with power from on high;

32 fue por lo que os di el mandamiento de trasladaros a Ohio; y allí os daré mi ley, y allí seréis investidos con poder de lo alto;

33 And from thence, whosoever I will shall go forth among all nations, and it shall be told them what they shall do; for I have a great work laid up in store, for Israel shall be saved, and I will lead them whithersoever I will, and no power shall stay my hand.

33 y desde allí irán a todas las naciones los que yo quisiere, y les será dicho lo que han de hacer; porque tengo reservada una gran obra, pues Israel será salvo y lo guiaré por donde yo quiera, y ningún poder detendrá mi mano.

34 And now, I give unto the church in these parts a commandment, that certain men among them shall be appointed, and they shall be appointed by the voice of the church;

34 Y ahora, doy a la iglesia en estas partes el mandamiento de nombrar a ciertos hombres de entre ellos, y estos deberán ser nombrados por la voz de la iglesia;

35 And they shall look to the poor and the needy, and administer to their relief that they shall not suffer; and send them forth to the place which I have commanded them;

35 y atenderán a los pobres y a los necesitados, y les suministrarán auxilio a fin de que no sufran; y los enviarán al lugar que les he mandado;

36 And this shall be their work, to govern the affairs of the property of this church.

36 y su obra será administrar los asuntos de los bienes de esta iglesia.

37 And they that have farms that cannot be sold, let them be left or rented as seemeth them good.

37 Y los que tengan granjas que no puedan vender, que las dejen o las alquilen, según les parezca mejor.

38 See that all things are preserved; and when men are endowed with power from on high and sent forth, all these things shall be gathered unto the bosom of the church.

38 Procurad que se conserven todas las cosas; y cuando los hombres sean investidos con poder de lo alto, y enviados, han de juntarse todas estas cosas en el seno de la iglesia.

39 And if ye seek the riches which it is the will of the Father to give unto you, ye shall be the richest of all people, for ye shall have the riches of eternity; and it must needs be that the riches of the earth are mine to give; but beware of pride, lest ye become as the Nephites of old.

39 Y si buscáis las riquezas que según su voluntad el Padre quiere daros, seréis los más ricos de todos los pueblos, porque tendréis las riquezas de la eternidad; y es menester que las riquezas de la tierra sean mías para dar; mas cuidaos del orgullo, no sea que lleguéis a ser como los nefitas de la antigüedad.

40 And again, I say unto you, I give unto you a commandment, that every man, both elder, priest, teacher, and also member, go to with his might, with the labor of his hands, to prepare and accomplish the things which I have commanded.

40 Y además, os digo que os doy el mandamiento de que todo hombre, tanto el que sea élder, presbítero, o maestro, así como también el miembro, se dedique con su fuerza, con el trabajo de sus manos, a preparar y a realizar las cosas que he mandado.

41 And let your preaching be the warning voice, every man to his neighbor, in mildness and in meekness.

41 Y sea vuestra predicación la voz de amonestación, cada hombre a su vecino, con mansedumbre y humildad.

42 And go ye out from among the wicked. Save yourselves. Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord. Even so. Amen.

42 Y salid de entre los inicuos. Salvaos. Sed limpios, los que lleváis los vasos del Señor. Así sea. Amén.
