1 Behold, there shall be a record kept among you; and in it thou shalt be called a seer, a translator, a prophet, an apostle of Jesus Christ, an elder of the church through the will of God the Father, and the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ,

1 He aquí, se llevará entre vosotros una historia; y en ella serás llamado vidente, traductor, profeta, apóstol de Jesucristo, élder de la iglesia por la voluntad de Dios el Padre, y la gracia de tu Señor Jesucristo,

2 Being inspired of the Holy Ghost to lay the foundation thereof, and to build it up unto the most holy faith.

2 habiendo sido inspirado por el Espíritu Santo para poner los cimientos de ella y edificarla para la fe santísima.

3 Which church was organized and established in the year of your Lord eighteen hundred and thirty, in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month which is called April.

3 Dicha iglesia se organizó y se estableció en el año de tu Señor de mil ochocientos treinta, en el cuarto mes y en el sexto día del mes llamado abril.

4 Wherefore, meaning the church, thou shalt give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me;

4 Por tanto, vosotros, es decir, la iglesia, daréis oído a todas sus palabras y mandamientos que os dará según los reciba, andando delante de mí con toda santidad;

5 For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith.

5 porque recibiréis su palabra con toda fe y paciencia como si viniera de mi propia boca.

6 For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name's glory.

6 Porque si hacéis estas cosas, las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra vosotros; sí, y Dios el Señor dispersará los poderes de las tinieblas de ante vosotros, y hará sacudir los cielos para vuestro bien y para la gloria de su nombre.

7 For thus saith the Lord God: Him have I inspired to move the cause of Zion in mighty power for good, and his diligence I know, and his prayers I have heard.

7 Porque, así dice Dios el Señor: Yo lo he inspirado para impulsar la causa de Sion con gran poder para hacer lo bueno, y conozco su diligencia, y he oído sus oraciones.

8 Yea, his weeping for Zion I have seen, and I will cause that he shall mourn for her no longer; for his days of rejoicing are come unto the remission of his sins, and the manifestations of my blessings upon his works.

8 Sí, he visto su llanto por Sion, y haré que no llore más por ella; porque han llegado los días en que él se regocijará por la remisión de sus pecados y por la manifestación de mis bendiciones sobre sus obras.

9 For, behold, I will bless all those who labor in my vineyard with a mighty blessing, and they shall believe on his words, which are given him through me by the Comforter, which manifesteth that Jesus was crucified by sinful men for the sins of the world, yea, for the remission of sins unto the contrite heart.

9 Porque he aquí, bendeciré con poderosa bendición a todos los que obraren en mi viña, y creerán en sus palabras que por mi conducto le son dadas por el Consolador, el cual manifiesta que Jesús fue crucificado por hombres inicuos, por los pecados del mundo, sí, para la remisión de pecados al de corazón contrito.

10 Wherefore it behooveth me that he should be ordained by you, Oliver Cowdery mine apostle;

10 Por tanto, me es conveniente que él sea ordenado por ti, Oliver Cowdery, mi apóstol;

11 This being an ordinance unto you, that you are an elder under his hand, he being the first unto you, that you might be an elder unto this church of Christ, bearing my name—

11 siendo esto una ordenanza para ti, en que eres élder bajo su mano, siendo él el primero para ti, a fin de que puedas ser un élder de esta Iglesia de Cristo, que lleva mi nombre;

12 And the first preacher of this church unto the church, and before the world, yea, before the Gentiles; yea, and thus saith the Lord God, lo, lo! to the Jews also. Amen.

12 y el primer predicador de esta iglesia a sus miembros y ante el mundo; sí, ante los gentiles; sí, y así dice Dios el Señor, he aquí, a los judíos también. Amén.
