1 I am Alpha and Omega, Christ the Lord; yea, even I am he, the beginning and the end, the Redeemer of the world.

2 I, having accomplished and finished the will of him whose I am, even the Father, concerning me—having done this that I might subdue all things unto myself—

2 Habiendo ejecutado y cumplido la voluntad de aquel de quien soy, a saber, el Padre, tocante a mí—habiéndolo hecho para sujetar a mí todas las cosas—

3 Retaining all power, even to the destroying of Satan and his works at the end of the world, and the last great day of judgment, which I shall pass upon the inhabitants thereof, judging every man according to his works and the deeds which he hath done.

3 reteniendo todo poder, aun el de destruir a Satanás y sus obras al fin del mundo, y el último gran día del juicio que pronunciaré sobre los habitantes del mundo, juzgando a cada hombre de acuerdo con sus obras y las cosas que haya hecho.

4 And surely every man must repent or suffer, for I, God, am endless.

4 Y en verdad, todo hombre tiene que arrepentirse o padecer, porque yo, Dios, soy sin fin.

5 Wherefore, I revoke not the judgments which I shall pass, but woes shall go forth, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, yea, to those who are found on my left hand.

5 Por tanto, no abrogaré los juicios que pronuncie, sino que sobrevendrán los lamentos, lloros, gemidos y crujir de dientes, sí, a los que se hallaren a mi izquierda.

6 Nevertheless, it is not written that there shall be no end to this torment, but it is written endless torment.

6 Sin embargo, no está escrito que no tendrá fin este tormento, sino que está escrito tormento sin fin.

7 Again, it is written eternal damnation; wherefore it is more express than other scriptures, that it might work upon the hearts of the children of men, altogether for my name's glory.

7 Además, está escrito condenación eterna; de modo que es más explícito que otras Escrituras, a fin de que obre en el corazón de los hijos de los hombres, enteramente para la gloria de mi nombre.

8 Wherefore, I will explain unto you this mystery, for it is meet unto you to know even as mine apostles.

8 Os explicaré, por tanto, este misterio, porque os conviene saber, así como a mis apóstoles.

9 I speak unto you that are chosen in this thing, even as one, that you may enter into my rest.

9 Os hablo a vosotros que sois escogidos en esto, como si fueseis uno, para que entréis en mi reposo.

10 For, behold, the mystery of godliness, how great is it! For, behold, I am endless, and the punishment which is given from my hand is endless punishment, for Endless is my name. Wherefore—

10 Pues he aquí, el misterio de la divinidad, ¡cuán grande es! Porque, he aquí, yo soy sin fin, y el castigo que por mi mano se da es castigo sin fin, porque Sin Fin es mi nombre. De ahí que:

11 Eternal punishment is God's punishment.

11 Castigo eterno es castigo de Dios.

12 Endless punishment is God's punishment.

12 Castigo sin fin es castigo de Dios.

13 Wherefore, I command you to repent, and keep the commandments which you have received by the hand of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., in my name;

14 And it is by my almighty power that you have received them;

14 y es por mi omnipotencia que los has recibido;

15 Therefore I command you to repent—repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore—how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.

15 así que, te mando que te arrepientas; arrepiéntete, no sea que te hiera con la vara de mi boca, y con mi enojo, y con mi ira, y sean tus padecimientos dolorosos; cuán dolorosos no lo sabes; cuán intensos no lo sabes; sí, cuán difíciles de aguantar no lo sabes.

16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

16 Porque he aquí, yo, Dios, he padecido estas cosas por todos, para que no padezcan, si se arrepienten;

17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

17 mas si no se arrepienten, tendrán que padecer así como yo;

18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—

18 padecimiento que hizo que yo, Dios, el mayor de todos, temblara a causa del dolor y sangrara por cada poro y padeciera, tanto en el cuerpo como en el espíritu, y deseara no tener que beber la amarga copa y desmayar.

19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

19 Sin embargo, gloria sea al Padre, bebí, y acabé mis preparativos para con los hijos de los hombres.

20 Wherefore, I command you again to repent, lest I humble you with my almighty power; and that you confess your sins, lest you suffer these punishments of which I have spoken, of which in the smallest, yea, even in the least degree you have tasted at the time I withdrew my Spirit.

20 Por lo que otra vez te mando que te arrepientas, no sea que te humille con mi omnipotencia; y que confieses tus pecados para que no sufras estos castigos de que he hablado, los cuales en muy pequeño grado, sí, en grado mínimo probaste en la ocasión en que retiré mi Espíritu.

21 And I command you that you preach naught but repentance, and show not these things unto the world until it is wisdom in me.

21 Y te mando que no prediques más que el arrepentimiento, y que no muestres estas cosas al mundo hasta que me sea prudente.

22 For they cannot bear meat now, but milk they must receive; wherefore, they must not know these things, lest they perish.

22 Porque por ahora no pueden tolerar carne, sino que deben recibir leche; por tanto, no deben saber estas cosas, no sea que perezcan.

23 Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me.

23 Aprende de mí y escucha mis palabras; camina en la mansedumbre de mi Espíritu, y en mí tendrás paz.

24 I am Jesus Christ; I came by the will of the Father, and I do his will.

24 Yo soy Jesucristo; vine por la voluntad del Padre, y su voluntad cumplo.

25 And again, I command thee that thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife; nor seek thy neighbor's life.

25 Y además, te mando no codiciar la mujer de tu prójimo, ni atentar contra la vida de tu prójimo.

26 And again, I command thee that thou shalt not covet thine own property, but impart it freely to the printing of the Book of Mormon, which contains the truth and the word of God—

26 Y también te mando no codiciar tus propios bienes, sino dar liberalmente de ellos para imprimir el Libro de Mormón, el cual contiene la verdad y la palabra de Dios,

27 Which is my word to the Gentile, that soon it may go to the Jew, of whom the Lamanites are a remnant, that they may believe the gospel, and look not for a Messiah to come who has already come.

28 And again, I command thee that thou shalt pray vocally as well as in thy heart; yea, before the world as well as in secret, in public as well as in private.

28 Y además, te mando que ores vocalmente así como en tu corazón; sí, ante el mundo como también en secreto; así en público como en privado.

29 And thou shalt declare glad tidings, yea, publish it upon the mountains, and upon every high place, and among every people that thou shalt be permitted to see.

29 Y tú declararás gozosas nuevas; sí, publícalo sobre las montañas y en todo lugar alto, y entre todo pueblo que te sea permitido ver.

30 And thou shalt do it with all humility, trusting in me, reviling not against revilers.

30 Y lo harás con toda humildad, confiando en mí, no denigrando a los que denigran.

31 And of tenets thou shalt not talk, but thou shalt declare repentance and faith on the Savior, and remission of sins by baptism, and by fire, yea, even the Holy Ghost.

31 Y de dogmas no hablarás, sino que declararás el arrepentimiento y la fe en el Salvador, y la remisión de pecados por el bautismo y por fuego, sí, por el Espíritu Santo.

32 Behold, this is a great and the last commandment which I shall give unto you concerning this matter; for this shall suffice for thy daily walk, even unto the end of thy life.

32 He aquí, este es un mandamiento grande, y el último que te daré concerniente a este asunto, porque esto bastará para tu conducta diaria hasta el fin de tu vida.

33 And misery thou shalt receive if thou wilt slight these counsels, yea, even the destruction of thyself and property.

33 Y si desprecias estos consejos, te sobrevendrá la miseria; sí, hasta tu destrucción y la de tus bienes.

34 Impart a portion of thy property, yea, even part of thy lands, and all save the support of thy family.

34 Da una parte de tus bienes, sí, parte de tus terrenos, y todo menos lo necesario para el sostén de tu familia.

35 Pay the debt thou hast contracted with the printer. Release thyself from bondage.

35 Paga la deuda que has contraído con el impresor. Líbrate de la servidumbre.

36 Leave thy house and home, except when thou shalt desire to see thy family;

36 Deja tu casa y tu hogar, salvo cuando desees ver a los de tu familia;

37 And speak freely to all; yea, preach, exhort, declare the truth, even with a loud voice, with a sound of rejoicing, crying—Hosanna, hosanna, blessed be the name of the Lord God!

37 y habla libremente a todos; sí, predica, exhorta, declara la verdad en voz alta con el son de regocijo, diciendo: ¡Hosanna, hosanna, bendito sea el nombre de Dios el Señor!

38 Pray always, and I will pour out my Spirit upon you, and great shall be your blessing—yea, even more than if you should obtain treasures of earth and corruptibleness to the extent thereof.

38 Ora siempre, y derramaré mi Espíritu sobre ti, y grande será tu bendición, sí, más grande que si lograras los tesoros de la tierra y corrupción en la medida correspondiente.

39 Behold, canst thou read this without rejoicing and lifting up thy heart for gladness?

39 He aquí, ¿puedes leer esto sin regocijarte y sin que se exalte tu corazón de alegría?

40 Or canst thou run about longer as a blind guide?

40 ¿O puedes seguir errante como guía ciego?

41 Or canst thou be humble and meek, and conduct thyself wisely before me? Yea, come unto me thy Savior. Amen.

41 ¿O puedes ser humilde y manso, y conducirte prudentemente delante de mí? Sí, ven a mí, tu Salvador. Amén.
