1 Verily, thus saith the Lord, I require all their surplus property to be put into the hands of the bishop of my church in Zion,

1 De cierto, así dice el Señor, requiero que todos sus bienes sobrantes se pongan en manos del obispo de mi iglesia en Sion,

2 For the building of mine house, and for the laying of the foundation of Zion and for the priesthood, and for the debts of the Presidency of my Church.

2 para la construcción de mi casa, para poner el fundamento de Sion, para el sacerdocio y para las deudas de la Presidencia de mi iglesia.

3 And this shall be the beginning of the tithing of my people.

3 Y esto será el principio del diezmo de mi pueblo.

4 And after that, those who have thus been tithed shall pay one-tenth of all their interest annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them forever, for my holy priesthood, saith the Lord.

4 Y después de esto, todos aquellos que hayan entregado este diezmo pagarán la décima parte de todo su interés anualmente; y esta les será por ley fija para siempre, para mi santo sacerdocio, dice el Señor.

5 Verily I say unto you, it shall come to pass that all those who gather unto the land of Zion shall be tithed of their surplus properties, and shall observe this law, or they shall not be found worthy to abide among you.

5 De cierto os digo, acontecerá que todos los que se reúnan en la tierra de Sion serán diezmados de todas sus propiedades sobrantes y observarán esta ley, o no serán considerados dignos de permanecer entre vosotros.

6 And I say unto you, if my people observe not this law, to keep it holy, and by this law sanctify the land of Zion unto me, that my statutes and my judgments may be kept thereon, that it may be most holy, behold, verily I say unto you, it shall not be a land of Zion unto you.

6 Y os digo que si mi pueblo no observa esta ley para guardarla santa, ni me santifica la tierra de Sion por esta ley, a fin de que en ella se guarden mis estatutos y juicios, para que sea la más santa, he aquí, de cierto os digo, no será para vosotros una tierra de Sion.

7 And this shall be an ensample unto all the stakes of Zion. Even so. Amen.

7 Y esto servirá de norma a todas las estacas de Sion. Así sea. Amén.
