1 Verily thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Thomas: I have heard thy prayers; and thine alms have come up as a memorial before me, in behalf of those, thy brethren, who were chosen to bear testimony of my name and to send it abroad among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, and ordained through the instrumentality of my servants.

1 De cierto, así te dice el Señor, mi siervo Thomas: He oído tus oraciones, y tus ofrendas han subido delante de mí como memorial en favor de aquellos, tus hermanos, que fueron escogidos para dar testimonio de mi nombre y enviarlo entre todas las naciones, lenguas, tribus y pueblos, y a quienes se ordenó por conducto de mis siervos.

2 Verily I say unto you, there have been some few things in thine heart and with thee with which I, the Lord, was not well pleased.

2 De cierto te digo, ha habido algunas cosas en tu corazón, y en cuanto a ti, con las que yo, el Señor, no quedé muy complacido.

3 Nevertheless, inasmuch as thou hast abased thyself thou shalt be exalted; therefore, all thy sins are forgiven thee.

3 No obstante, ya que te has humillado, serás ensalzado; por tanto, te son perdonados todos tus pecados.

4 Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face; and thou shalt bear record of my name, not only unto the Gentiles, but also unto the Jews; and thou shalt send forth my word unto the ends of the earth.

4 Sea de buen ánimo tu corazón ante mi faz; y tú testificarás de mi nombre no solamente a los gentiles, sino a los judíos también; y enviarás mi palabra a los extremos de la tierra.

5 Contend thou, therefore, morning by morning; and day after day let thy warning voice go forth; and when the night cometh let not the inhabitants of the earth slumber, because of thy speech.

5 Contiende, pues, mañana tras mañana; y día tras día hágase oír tu voz amonestadora; y al anochecer no dejen dormir tus palabras a los habitantes de la tierra.

6 Let thy habitation be known in Zion, and remove not thy house; for I, the Lord, have a great work for thee to do, in publishing my name among the children of men.

6 Sea señalada tu morada en Sion, y no te cambies de casa; porque yo, el Señor, tengo una obra grande para ti en la publicación de mi nombre entre los hijos de los hombres.

7 Therefore, gird up thy loins for the work. Let thy feet be shod also, for thou art chosen, and thy path lieth among the mountains, and among many nations.

7 Por tanto, ciñe tus lomos para la obra. Sean calzados tus pies también, porque eres escogido, y tu camino queda entre las montañas y entre muchas naciones.

8 And by thy word many high ones shall be brought low, and by thy word many low ones shall be exalted.

8 Y por tu palabra muchos de los soberbios serán humillados, y muchos de los humildes serán ensalzados.

9 Thy voice shall be a rebuke unto the transgressor; and at thy rebuke let the tongue of the slanderer cease its perverseness.

9 Tu voz será un reproche al transgresor; y ante tu reprensión cese la perversidad de la lengua del calumniador.

10 Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.

10 Sé humilde; y el Señor tu Dios te llevará de la mano y dará respuesta a tus oraciones.

11 I know thy heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren. Be not partial towards them in love above many others, but let thy love be for them as for thyself; and let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name.

11 Conozco tu corazón y he oído tus oraciones concernientes a tus hermanos. No seas parcial para con ellos, amándolos más que a muchos otros, antes sea tu amor por ellos como por ti mismo; y abunde tu amor por todos los hombres y por todos los que aman mi nombre.

12 And pray for thy brethren of the Twelve. Admonish them sharply for my name's sake, and let them be admonished for all their sins, and be ye faithful before me unto my name.

12 Y ruega por tus hermanos, los Doce. Amonéstalos severamente por causa de mi nombre, y sean amonestados por todos sus pecados; y sed fieles a mi nombre delante de mí.

13 And after their temptations, and much tribulation, behold, I, the Lord, will feel after them, and if they harden not their hearts, and stiffen not their necks against me, they shall be converted, and I will heal them.

13 Y después de sus tentaciones y de mucha tribulación, he aquí, yo, el Señor, los buscaré; y si no se obstina su corazón ni se endurece su cerviz en contra de mí, serán convertidos y yo los sanaré.

14 Now, I say unto you, and what I say unto you, I say unto all the Twelve: Arise and gird up your loins, take up your cross, follow me, and feed my sheep.

14 Ahora te digo, y lo que te digo a ti lo digo a todos los Doce: Levantaos y ceñid vuestros lomos, tomad vuestra cruz, venid en pos de mí y apacentad mis ovejas.

15 Exalt not yourselves; rebel not against my servant Joseph; for verily I say unto you, I am with him, and my hand shall be over him; and the keys which I have given unto him, and also to youward, shall not be taken from him till I come.

15 No seáis soberbios; no os sublevéis en contra de mi siervo José, porque de cierto os digo que estoy con él, y mi mano lo protegerá; y las llaves que a él le he dado, como también a vosotros, no le serán quitadas hasta que yo venga.

16 Verily I say unto you, my servant Thomas, thou art the man whom I have chosen to hold the keys of my kingdom, as pertaining to the Twelve, abroad among all nations—

16 De cierto te digo, mi siervo Thomas, tú eres el hombre al cual he escogido para poseer las llaves de mi reino, en lo que concierne a los Doce, entre todas las naciones,

17 That thou mayest be my servant to unlock the door of the kingdom in all places where my servant Joseph, and my servant Sidney, and my servant Hyrum, cannot come;

17 a fin de que seas mi siervo para abrir la puerta del reino en todos los lugares a donde mi siervo José y mis siervos Sidney y Hyrum no puedan ir;

18 For on them have I laid the burden of all the churches for a little season.

18 pues sobre ellos he puesto la carga de todas las iglesias por una corta temporada.

19 Wherefore, whithersoever they shall send you, go ye, and I will be with you; and in whatsoever place ye shall proclaim my name an effectual door shall be opened unto you, that they may receive my word.

19 Por tanto, ve a donde ellos te manden, y yo estaré contigo; y sea cual fuere el lugar donde proclames mi nombre, te será abierta una puerta eficaz para que reciban mi palabra.

20 Whosoever receiveth my word receiveth me, and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth those, the First Presidency, whom I have sent, whom I have made counselors for my name's sake unto you.

20 Quien recibe mi palabra, me recibe a mí; y quien me recibe a mí, recibe a los de la Primera Presidencia, a quienes he enviado, a quienes te he puesto por consejeros, por causa de mi nombre.

21 And again, I say unto you, that whosoever ye shall send in my name, by the voice of your brethren, the Twelve, duly recommended and authorized by you, shall have power to open the door of my kingdom unto any nation whithersoever ye shall send them—

21 Y además, te digo que a quienesquiera que envíes en mi nombre, por la voz de tus hermanos los Doce, debidamente recomendados y autorizados por ti, tendrán el poder para abrir la puerta de mi reino en cualquier nación a donde los mandes,

22 Inasmuch as they shall humble themselves before me, and abide in my word, and hearken to the voice of my Spirit.

22 si se humillan delante de mí, permanecen en mi palabra y dan oído a la voz de mi Espíritu.

23 Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.

23 De cierto, de cierto te digo, tinieblas cubren la tierra, y densa obscuridad la mente del pueblo, y toda carne se ha corrompido delante de mi faz.

24 Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.

24 He aquí, la venganza viene presto sobre los habitantes de la tierra, un día de ira, de fuego, de desolación, de llanto, de lloro y de lamentación; y como un torbellino vendrá sobre toda la faz de la tierra, dice el Señor.

25 And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;

25 Y empezará sobre mi casa, y de mi casa se extenderá, dice el Señor;

26 First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.

26 primero entre aquellos de vosotros que habéis profesado conocer mi nombre, dice el Señor, y no me habéis conocido, y habéis blasfemado en contra de mí en medio de mi casa, dice el Señor.

27 Therefore, see to it that ye trouble not yourselves concerning the affairs of my church in this place, saith the Lord.

27 Por tanto, mirad que no os inquietéis por los asuntos de mi iglesia en este lugar, dice el Señor.

28 But purify your hearts before me; and then go ye into all the world, and preach my gospel unto every creature who has not received it;

28 Sino purificad vuestro corazón delante de mí, y entonces id por todo el mundo y predicad mi evangelio a toda criatura que no lo haya recibido;

29 And he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, and he that believeth not, and is not baptized, shall be damned.

29 y el que creyere y fuere bautizado, será salvo; y el que no creyere ni se bautizare, será condenado.

30 For unto you, the Twelve, and those, the First Presidency, who are appointed with you to be your counselors and your leaders, is the power of this priesthood given, for the last days and for the last time, in the which is the dispensation of the fulness of times,

30 Porque a vosotros, los Doce, y a los de la Primera Presidencia, quienes son nombrados con vosotros para ser vuestros consejeros y líderes, se os ha dado el poder de este sacerdocio, para los últimos días y por última vez, en los cuales se encierra la dispensación del cumplimiento de los tiempos,

31 Which power you hold, in connection with all those who have received a dispensation at any time from the beginning of the creation;

31 Poder que vosotros tenéis, juntamente con todos los que han recibido una dispensación en cualquiera ocasión, desde el principio de la creación;

32 For verily I say unto you, the keys of the dispensation, which ye have received, have come down from the fathers, and last of all, being sent down from heaven unto you.

32 porque, de cierto os digo, las llaves de la dispensación, las cuales habéis recibido, han descendido desde los padres, y por último, se han enviado del cielo a vosotros.

33 Verily I say unto you, behold how great is your calling. Cleanse your hearts and your garments, lest the blood of this generation be required at your hands.

33 De cierto os digo, he aquí, cuán grande es vuestro llamamiento. Purificad vuestro corazón y vuestros vestidos, no sea que la sangre de esta generación sea requerida de vuestras manos.

34 Be faithful until I come, for I come quickly; and my reward is with me to recompense every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega. Amen.

34 Sed fieles hasta que yo venga, pues vengo presto; y mi galardón viene conmigo para recompensar a todo hombre según sus obras. Soy el Alfa y la Omega. Amén.
